Pulmonary hypertension secondary to interstitial fibrosis with pulmonary venous lesions masquerading pulmonary veno ‐occlusive disease
We present a 41-year-old man with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension (PH) in the setting of a non-autoimmune background whose clinical presentation masqueraded pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD). Because of no histological evidence of venous occlusion in his previous lung biopsy, phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor was given, resulting in sudden onset of pulmonary edema. At autopsy, there were histological features of interstitial fibrosis with occlusion of the lobular septal veins and venules. Clinical presentations of PH due to interstitial fibrosis with pulmonary venous lesions may simulate...

Mixed Mycobacterium kansasii and Mycobacterium smegmatis infection in an adult ‐onset immunodeficiency patient with anti‐interferon‐γ autoantibodies
In this case report, we present a newly diagnosed AIGA patient who initially presented with disseminated mycobacterial infection. PCR-based testing revealed a mixed pulmonary infection withMycobacterium kansasii andMycobacterium smegmatis, as well as disseminatedM. kansasii infection. After completing 12  months of antibiotics treatment, the infection resolved, and there was no evidence of reactivation, even in the absence of AIGA-specific treatment. AbstractAnti-interferon-gamma autoantibody (AIGA) is a rare adult-onset immunodeficiency disease that increases the risk of occult infection. Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NT...

Rare T263P epidermal growth factor receptor extracellular domain mutation of advanced non ‐small cell lung cancer in a Vietnamese male patient
In this study, we first report a patient with advanced lung adenocarcinoma harbouring only a rare T263P EGFR mutation who benefited from first-line afatinib therapy in Vietnam. The patient achieved a partial response with a time-to-treatment failure of 5  months. The patient subsequently received several chemotherapy regimens as the disease progressed, with overall survival of 17 months. Non-small cell lung cancer with a rare T263P EGFR mutation responds to afatinib but has a poor prognosis. AbstractT263P mutation is one of the rareEGFR mutations located on chromosome 7p11.2, which is a change in amino acid residue at ...

Variable radiographic and histologic presentations of amiodarone ‐related interstitial lung disease and the importance of avoiding re‐exposure
Amiodarone-related interstitial lung disease may exhibit variable clinical, radiographic, and histologic presentations. Prompt discontinuation and avoiding re-exposure of the agent is important to prevent the progression and recurrence of the interstitial lung disease. AbstractAmiodarone is a commonly used antiarrhythmic agent but exhibits potential pulmonary toxicity. In this case series, we describe the clinical, radiographic, and histologic manifestations of three patients who developed interstitial lung disease (ILD) following amiodarone treatment for variable lengths of time with different dosages. The presentations o...

A case of eosinophilic pneumonia induced by lettuce
We report a first case of eosinophilic pneumonia induced by lettuce in a lettuce farmer. AbstractA 56-year-old female lettuce farmer was admitted to the hospital with a low-grade fever, worsening cough, and dyspnoea. A blood test revealed eosinophilia and a high serum IgE concentration. The 3-year follow-up showed that her total IgE level increased in December, peaked in May, and suddenly decreased in August. This result was consistent with the lettuce harvest season. A chest x-ray taken on admission showed an infiltrative shadow in the upper lung field. Chest CT revealed patchy ground glass opacity on the upper lung field...
