Impact of epicardial adipose tissue on cardiac function and morphology in patients with diastolic dysfunction
ConclusionsPatients with diastolic dysfunction and increased EAT show more pronounced signs of diastolic functional failure and adverse structural remodelling. Despite similar morphological characteristics, patients with high EAT show significant cardiac functional impairment, in particular in the atria. Systemic sclerosis is associated with increased in ‐patient mortality in patients hospitalized for heart failure
ConclusionsIn patients hospitalized for HF, those with SSc were noted to have higher odds of in-hospital mortality than those without SSc. Patients with HF and SSc were more likely to be younger, female, and have higher rates of co-morbid interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension at baseline with fewer traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Immediate pharmacotherapy intensification after cardiac resynchronization therapy: incidence, characteristics, and impact
ConclusionsImmediate intensification of HF medication was achieved in 54% of CRT recipients and was significantly higher in patients without excessive QRS prolongation, preserved renal function, and dilated cardiomyopathy than others. Excess renin is attributed to the combination of forward and backward failure in HFrEF

Effects of pharmacological interventions on mortality in patients with Takotsubo syndrome: a report from the SWEDEHEART registry
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that some medications commonly used to treat TS are associated with higher mortality, while others have lower mortality.
