Multifactorial risk factors for hospital readmissions among patients with symptoms of advanced heart failure
ConclusionsRisk factors for hospital readmissions and mortality are multifactorial. Many of these factors, such as weak grip strength, diabetes, poor self-care behaviours, are potentially modifiable and should be routinely assessed and managed in cardiac clinics and hospital admissions. Exercise training and high ‐sensitivity cardiac troponin‐I in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction
ConclusionsIn patients with stable HFrEF, 12  weeks of structured exercise intervention was associated with a modest, but significant reduction of hs-cTnI. There was no significant difference between intervention group and control group. In the sub-group of patients without additional co-morbidities, this difference was highly significant. Th e alterations in hs-cTnI were associated with reduction of LVEDD and natriuretic peptide concentrations as well as improved functional capacity. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Association between red blood cell distribution width ‐to‐albumin ratio and prognosis in non‐ischaemic heart failure

Pressure overload is associated with right ventricular dyssynchrony in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction
ConclusionsRV dyssynchrony is associated with RV remodelling, dysfunction, adverse haemodynamics, and greater risk for adverse clinical events. RV dyssynchrony is mitigated by acute RV afterload reduction and could be a potential therapeutic target to improve RV performance in HFrEF. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

A polygenic risk score of atrial fibrillation improves prediction of lifetime risk for heart failure
ConclusionsThe PRSAF was associated with incident HF and its subtypes and had significant incremental value over an established HF risk prediction equation. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Development and validation of the self ‐volume management behaviour questionnaire for patients with chronic heart failure
ConclusionsThe study has shown that the questionnaire on the behaviour of self-volume management of patients with chronic heart failure has good reliability and validity. It can be used as an evaluation tool for evaluating the self-volume management behaviour of patients with chronic heart failure. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Triglyceride ‐glucose index's link to cardiovascular outcomes post‐percutaneous coronary intervention in China: a meta‐analysis
AbstractPercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) addresses myocardial ischaemia, but a significant subset of patients encounter major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) post-treatment. This meta-analysis investigated the relationship between the post-PCI triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and MACE. Comprehensive searches of the Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases were conducted up to 3 March 2023, using relevant keywords. The effect size was determined based onI2 statistic using random-effects models. Cluster-robust standard errors crafted the dose –response curve, and the GRADE Evaluation Scal...

A meta ‐analysis of the relationship between glycaemic variability and the mortality of patients with heart failure
The objective of the research was to assess the correlation between glycaemic variability (GV) and the mortality of patients with heart failure (HF) through a comprehensive review and meta-analysis. Longitudinal follow-up studies comparing the mortality risk between HF patients with higher and lower GV were identified by searching Medline, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases. The results were combined using a random-effects model that accounted for the potential variability. The meta-analysis included nine cohort studies involving 76  843 patients diagnosed with HF, out of which 35 853 patients died wi...

Cardiac magnetic resonance ‐based layer‐specific strain in immune checkpoint inhibitor‐associated myocarditis
ConclusionsCR and CS ICIaM demonstrated different functional and morphological characteristics in different myocardial layers. An impaired GLSendo could be a helpful parameter in early identifying corticosteroid-refractory individuals in the ICIaM population. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Association between haemoglobin, albumin, lymphocytes, and platelets and mortality in patients with heart failure

Novel electrocardiographic criteria may render possible the more accurate recognition of cardiac amyloidosis
ConclusionsThe novel ECG criteria [mostly the aVR  <  0.5, (I + aVR)/(V1 –4)  <  0.375] seem at least as reliable in the diagnosis of CA as the best echocardiographic myocardial deformation criteria and might be used either together with the echocardiographic criteria or as stand-alone criteria to diagnose CA in the future. Prognostic impact of MitraScore in elderly Asian patients with heart failure: sub ‐analysis of FRAGILE‐HF
ConclusionsMitraScore developed for patients undergoing TEER also showed strong discriminative power in HF patients. MitraScore was superior to other manually calculable simple risk scores and might be a good choice for risk assessment in clinical practice for patients receiving TEER and those with HF. An altered plasma lipidome –phenome network characterizes heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
ConclusionsWe did not find significant direct associations between plasma lipidomic parameters and HFpEF and therefore could not conclude that any specific lipids are biomarkers of HFpEF. The validation in larger cohort is needed to confidently conclude the absence of first-order associations. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)
