An altered plasma lipidome –phenome network characterizes heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
ConclusionsWe did not find significant direct associations between plasma lipidomic parameters and HFpEF and therefore could not conclude that any specific lipids are biomarkers of HFpEF. The validation in larger cohort is needed to confidently conclude the absence of first-order associations. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Can right ventricular endomyocardial biopsy predict left ventricular fibrosis beforehand in dilated cardiomyopathy?
ConclusionsThe fibrosis observed in RV-EMB positively correlated with the extent of fibrosis in the LV of excised hearts in patients with DCM. The study findings may help predict LV fibrosis, considered a prognostic factor of DCM through relatively accessible biopsy techniques. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Interferon ‐regulatory factor‐1 boosts bevacizumab cardiotoxicity by the vascular endothelial growth factor A/14‐3‐3γ axis
ConclusionThe IRF1-mediated VEGFA/14-3-3 γ signalling pathway promotes BVZ-induced myocardial injury. Our study provides evidence for potentially new target genes for the treatment of myocardial injury. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

LncRNA SNHG1 alleviates myocardial ischaemia –reperfusion injury by regulating the miR‐137‐3p/KLF4/TRPV1 axis
ConclusionsThese results showed that lncRNA SNHG1 assuaged cardiomyocyte pyroptosis during MIRI progression by regulating the KLF4/TRPV1/AKT axis through sponging miR-137-3p. Our findings may provide novel therapeutic targets for MIRI. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Application of an echocardiographic index to characterize right ventricular –pulmonary arterial coupling in heart failure
AbstractHeart failure (HF), with its high morbidity and mortality, remains a global public health issue. Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction is a sign of deterioration in the natural history of HF, and a thorough evaluation of the relationship between RV contractility and its afterload through RV –pulmonary arterial (RV–PA) coupling can aid in accurately assessing overall RV function. The ratio of RV end-systolic elastance (Ees) to pulmonary arterial elastance (Ea) invasively measured by right heart catheterization served as the gold standard for evaluating RV–PA coupling. An echocardi ographic index termed tricuspid ...

Impact of mental disorders on unplanned readmissions for congestive heart failure patients: a population ‐level study
ConclusionsCHF patients who had a mental disorder diagnosis in the past 12  months are more likely to be readmitted compared with those without a mental disorder diagnosis. CHF patients with frailty and a mental disorder have the highest probability of readmission. Addressing mental health care services in CHF patient's discharge plan could potentially assist reduce unpla nned readmissions. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Medicines optimization prior to discharge in patients admitted to hospital with heart failure
ConclusionsMost patients admitted for heart failure are eligible for initiation of life-prolonging medications prior to discharge. A hospital admission may be a common missed opportunity to improve treatment for patients with HeFREF. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Impact of rapid sequential combination therapy on distinct haemodynamic measures in newly diagnosed pulmonary arterial hypertension
ConclusionsRapid sequential combination therapy with PDE5i/sGC-S and ERA substantially ameliorates cardiopulmonary haemodynamics at early follow-up in patients without, and to a lesser extent, with cardiovascular co-morbidities. This occurs in line with improvements of clinical parameters and risk status. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Improved heart function and cardiac remodelling following sacubitril/valsartan in acute coronary syndrome with HF
ConclusionsThe cardiac function is improved and cardiac remodelling is reversed significantly after treatment of S/V in ACS patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction after PCI, and the improvement is more obvious than the routine group. There is a significant negative correlation between the change in LVEF and the changes in NT-proBNP, LVMI, LVEDVI, and LVESVI. The increase of LVEF and the decrease of LVEDVI and LVESVI are protective factors to improve the prognosis. Patients with myocardial infarction and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction might benefit more from the initiation of S/V as first-line ...

Giant cell myocarditis with prolonged cardiac standstill after drug ‐induced hypersensitivity syndrome: a case report
We present a case of a 28-year-old woman who developed GCM during steroid tapering after DIHS. She went into continuous cardiac standstill but survived for 74  days under BiVAD support. Our case is noteworthy because the histopathologic specimens obtained on three occasions contributed to the diagnosis of this particular condition over time. We also reviewed previous literature on concomitant cases of GCM and DIHS. We found that two are potentially assoc iated and most cases of GCM occur within 3 months of DIHS during steroid tapering. Autopsy findings in cases of fatal COVID ‐19 vaccine‐induced myocarditis
AbstractCOVID-19 vaccines have been linked to myocarditis, which, in some circumstances, can be fatal. This systematic review aims to investigate potential causal links between COVID-19 vaccines and death from myocarditis using post-mortem analysis. We performed a systematic review of all published autopsy reports involving COVID-19 vaccination-induced myocarditis through 3 July 2023. All autopsy studies that include COVID-19 vaccine-induced myocarditis as a possible cause of death were included. Causality in each case was assessed by three independent physicians with cardiac pathology experience and expertise. We initiall...
