Prognostic value of the NEWS + Lactate score in patients with decompensated heart failure in the emergency department
ConclusionsThe NEWS score and the addition of the lactate value to this score, the NEWS  + L score, were higher in patients with poor prognostic outcomes who presented with decompensated heart failure in our emergency department. NEWS + L slightly outperformed the NEWS score in predicting prognosis. The NEWS + L score shows promise as a prognostic indicator for patients with deco mpensated heart failure presenting to the emergency department. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Circulating microRNAs and cardiomyocyte proliferation in heart failure patients related to 10  years survival
ConclusionsThis study proposes that generating regenerative signals observed during PICSO intervention relate to patient outcomes. Morphogenetic pathways induced by periods of flow reversal in cardiac veins in a domino-like pattern transform embryonic into regenerative signals. Studies supporting the conversion of mechanochemical signals into regenerative molecules during PICSO are warranted to substantiate predictive power on patient longevity, opening new therapeutic avenues in otherwise untreatable heart failure. Effects of door ‐to‐tolvaptan time on short‐term clinical outcome in patients with acute heart failure
ConclusionsThe shorter D2T time did not affect the short-term urine volume and in-hospital outcomes but reduced the risk of WRF incidence in patients with AHF. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Phenotyping congestion in acute heart failure by renal flow and right heart to pulmonary circulation coupling
ConclusionsIn AHF, the renal venous flow pattern combined with a right heart study phenotypes congestion and clinical evolution. Keys to renal flow disruption are an impaired right atrial dynamics and RV –Pc uncoupling. Integration of four right heart echocardiographic variables may be an effective tool for scoring the renal congestive phenotype in AHF. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

PRecision Event Monitoring for PatienTs with Heart Failure using HeartLogic (PREEMPT ‐HF) study design and enrolment
ConclusionsThe PREEMPT study will provide clinical data and blinded sensor trends for the characterization of sensor changes with HF readmission, tachyarrhythmias, and event subgroups. These data may help to refine the clinical use of HeartLogic and to improve patient outcomes. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Genetically predicted androgenic profiles and adverse cardiac markers: a sex ‐specific Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionsThis study supports a causal effect of pro-androgenic sex hormone profiles in females on adverse markers of left ventricular structure and function typically associated with HF with preserved ejection fraction and with HF. There was weaker evidence of association in males. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Predictive value for mortality of left ventricular wall thickness in dilated cardiomyopathy
ConclusionsPWT measured by CMR is an independent predictor of all-cause mortality in DCM patients. However, there was no significant correlation between septum wall thickness and mortality. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

The characteristic large ‐scale annual analysis by gender and age in heart failure patients: cohort for 10 years in Korea
ConclusionsThe prevalence and incidence of HF are gradually increasing. It increased rapidly in their 50s and older. It showed an increased incidence of HF especially in men between their 50s and 70s, and more observation and caution for the management of the risk factors may be needed to prevent HF in the male group. Conduction system pacing and atrioventricular node ablation in heart failure: The PACE ‐FIB study design
ConclusionLBBP is a promising stimulation mode that may foster the clinical benefit of heart rate regularization through AV node ablation compared with pharmacological rate control. This is the first randomized trial specifically addressing the long-term efficacy and safety of this pace-and-ablate strategy in patients with HFpEF/HFmrEF and permanent AF. Detection of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy by automated data extraction from electronic health records
ConclusionsNot only well-known variables associated with ATTR-CM but also unique combinations of cardiac and non-cardiac phenotypes are able to predict ATTR-CM in a real-world HF population, aiding in early identification of ATTR-CM patients. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Association of hypoxic burden metrics with cardiovascular outcomes in heart failure and sleep ‐disordered breathing
ConclusionsThe hypoxic burden metrics T90, TRT90, and meanSO2, but not ODI, were independent predictors of cardiovascular death or readmission for worsening HF. Indicators of duration and severity, not just the frequency of nocturnal hypoxaemia, should be valued and considered for intervention to improve outcomes in HF patients. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Webtool to enhance the accuracy of diagnostic algorithms for HFpEF: a prospective cross ‐over study
ConclusionsManual calculation of HFpEF diagnostic algorithms is often inaccurate. Using an automated webtool to calculate HFpEF algorithms significantly improved correct scoring. This new approach may impact the eventual diagnostic decision in up to two-thirds of cases, supporting its routine use in clinical practice. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Differences between cardiogenic shock related to acute decompensated heart failure and acute myocardial infarction
ConclusionsADHF-CS is characterized by a higher prevalence of end-organ and biventricular dysfunction at presentation, a longer hospital length of stay, and higher need of heart replacement therapies when compared with AMI-CS. In-hospital mortality was similar between the two aetiologies. Our data warrant development of new management protocols focused on CS aetiology. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)
