Subarachnoid haemorrhage ‐induced reversible cardiac dysfunction: time course and potential mechanisms
ConclusionsSAH induces transient cardiac dysfunction in the acute phase, and the underlying mechanisms for this response involve the NPY –NPY1 receptor pathway, otherwise known as catecholamines. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Design and baseline characteristics of SALT ‐HF trial: hypertonic saline therapy in ambulatory heart failure
ConclusionsSALT-HF trial randomized 167 ambulatory patients with WHF and will determine whether an infusion of hypertonic saline therapy plus furosemide increases diuresis and improves decongestion compared to equivalent furosemide administration alone. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in heart transplant recipients with biopsy ‐negative graft dysfunction
ConclusionsBiopsy-negative GD occurs with and without LGE when assessed by CMR, indicative of possible rejection/inflammation occurring only in a subset of patients. Irrespective of LGE, LVEF improvement occurs in most GD patients, suggesting that other neurohormonal or immunomodulatory mechanisms may also contribute to GD development. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Impact of the operative technique on mid ‐ and long‐term results following paediatric heart transplantation
ConclusionsPaediatric heart transplantation using bicaval technique results similar long-term survival compared with the biatrial technique. The incidence of atrial rhythm disorders was significantly higher in the biatrial group, requiring a higher frequency of pacemaker implantation in this group. As a results, the bicaval technique has replaced the biatrial technique in our centre. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Pregnancy and cardiac maternal outcomes in women with inherited cardiomyopathy: interest of the CARPREG II risk score
ConclusionsPregnancy in women with inherited cardiomyopathy carries a high risk of maternal cardiovascular complications. CARPREG II is the most efficient predictor of cardiovascular complications in this population. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Tyrosine to threonine ratio was related to heart failure with reduced or mildly reduced ejection fraction
ConclusionsCirculating elevated Tyr/Thr ratio confer an increased risk for the presence of HF and poor prognosis. Tyr/Thr index outweighs FR index in predicting HF occurrence or CV death. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Prognostic impact of residual pulmonary congestion assessed by remote dielectric sensing system in patients admitted for heart failure
ConclusionsElevated ReDS ratios detected during the index hospitalization could serve as a promising prognostic indicator in HF patients admitted for treatment. The clinical ramifications of ReDS-guided HF management warrant validation in subsequent studies. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Guideline ‐directed medical therapy assessment in heart failure patients undergoing percutaneous mitral valve repair
ConclusionsThis study demonstrates the utility of a simple GDMT scoring system for assessing the adequacy of GDMT in HFrEF patients with relevant SMR undergoing M-TEER. The GDMT score has potential applications in guiding the design of future clinical trials and aiding clinical decision-making processes. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Tricuspid annular disjunction with varying degrees of tricuspid regurgitation in the setting of Takotsubo syndrome
AbstractTricuspid annular disjunction (TAD) is concomitant in approximately half of mitral annular disjunction (MAD) cases. Here we report a case of echocardiographically isolated TAD detected during Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) complicated by a transient aggravation of tricuspid regurgitation. An 87-year-old female was admitted at the emergency department with ST segment elevation. Coronary angiography findings were consistent with TTS. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) showed a left ventricular apical aneurysm with incidental finding of TAD with ‘torrential’ tricuspid regurgitation. Importantly, no concomitant MAD was...

Takotsubo syndrome and vaccines: a systematic review
ConclusionsTTS is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of vaccination. Typical TTS symptoms such as chest pain and dyspnoea should be considered alarming symptoms, though nonspecific symptoms are common. The risks of such rare adverse events should be balanced against the risks of infection. (Source: ESC Heart Failure)

Carbohydrate antigen 125: a useful marker of congestion, fibrosis, and prognosis in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
ConclusionsCA 125 levels were significantly higher in HFpEF patients compared with controls matched for age and sex and were associated with markers of congestion and cardiac fibrosis. CA 125 levels were a strong and independent predictor of HF hospitalization in HFpEF patients. These data suggest a potential value of CA 125 as a biomarker for staging and risk prediction in HFpEF.
