Spectral-Clustering of Lagrangian Trajectory Graphs: Application to Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
ConclusionIdentifying coherent sets enables tracking their transport during the cardiac cycle and identify their role in the flow dynamics. Moreover, the size and the transport of the long residing coherent sets inside the AAA bulges can be deduced which may aid in predicting thrombus formation at such location. Biological Equivalence of GGTA-1 Glycosyltransferase Knockout and Standard Porcine Pericardial Tissue Using 90-Day Mitral Valve Implantation in Adolescent Sheep
ConclusionsThis is the first demonstration of biological equivalence between GalKO and standard pig pericardium. The GalKO mutation causes neither intrinsic detrimental biological nor functional impact on BHV performance. Commercial adaptation of GalKO tissue for surgical or transcatheter BHVs would remove the clinical disparity between patients producing anti-Gal antibody and BHVs containing the Gal antigen. GalKO BHVs may reduce accelerated tissue calcification and SVD, enhancing patient choices, especially for younger patients.Graphical Abstract (Source: Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology)

The Individual and Combined Effects of Shear, Tension, and Flexure on Aortic Heart Valve Endothelial Cells in Culture
ConclusionsWhen VECs face a single mechanical stimuli, they undergo transdifferentiation and transform into mesenchymal cells. However, when these cells face a combination of mechanical stimuli, the rate of transformation decreases compared to single stimuli applications. This indicates that a single stimulus induces endothelial to mesenchymal transition in VECs while the process is slower under the combination of multiple mechanical stimuli. Hemodynamic Study of a Patient-Specific Intracranial Aneurysm: Comparative Assessment of Tomographic PIV, Stereoscopic PIV, In Vivo MRI and Computational Fluid Dynamics
ConclusionsOur results indicated that the differences in spatial resolution could be the main contributor to the discrepancies between each modality. The findings of this study suggest that with current techniques, care should be taken when using absolute WSS values to perform a quantitative risk analysis of aneurysm rupture. Association of Left Atrial Sphericity with Risk of Stroke in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation. Sub-Analysis of the ASSAM Study
ConclusionLASP is associated with prior stroke in AF patients. The proposed new formula for identification of AF patients who are at risk of stroke, based on geometrical measurements of LA, is superior to the basic LASP in identification of AF patients with a history of stroke. Segmentation of Coronary Arteries Images Using Spatio-temporal Feature Fusion Network with Combo Loss
ConclusionsOur method can intelligently capture coronary artery structure and achieve accurate flow reserve fraction (FFR) analysis. Through a series of steps such as CPR curved reconstruction, the detection of coronary heart disease can be achieved without affecting the patient ’s body. In addition, our work can be used as an effective means to assist in the detection of stenosis. In the screening of coronary heart disease among high-risk cardiovascular factors, automatic detection of luminal stenosis can be performed based on the application of later algorithm transform ation.
