Artificial Intelligence Methods for Rapid Vascular Access Aneurysm Classification in Remote or In-Person Settings
Conclusion: This is the first quality improvement project to show that an AI instrument can reliably grade vascular access aneurysms in a noninvasive way, allowing rapid assessments to be made on patients who would otherwise be at risk for highly morbid events. Moreover, these AI-assisted assessments can be made without having to schedule separate appointments and potentially even via telehealth.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Extracorporeal Blood Purification with HA-380 and High-Volume Hemofiltration: A New Therapeutic Challenge at the Neurocritical Care Unit? A Case Report
We present the case of a patient with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) secondary to a ruptured cerebral aneurysm and a refractory shock with high doses of vasopressors without a proven source of infection. This patient received therapy with high-volume hemofiltration plus adsorption, resolving the hemodynamic deterioration and with good neurological evolution. Our clinical case proposes that extracorporeal therapies may have a feasibility role in the management of complications of SAH.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Using Patient-Reported Measures to Improve Outcomes in Kidney Disease
Patients with CKD and ESRD are vulnerable to increased mortality rates and other poor outcomes. Among those with ESRD, their health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is shown little to no improvement as they undergo treatments such as dialysis and providers concurrently manage other health issues that complicate their already vulnerable state. This review synthesizes evidence demonstrating that a focus on measuring and monitoring patient-reported outcomes (PRO) such as pain and depression can improve HRQOL. Patient-centered care has the potential to create an efficient way for clinicians to address specific challenges facing...

The Relationship between Serum Ferritin Levels and 5-Year All-Cause Mortality in Hemodialysis Patients
Conclusion: Time-averaged serum ferritin levels #x3e;1,500 ng/mL in hemodialysis patients are associated with an increased 5-year all-cause mortality risk.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

WoundClot ® Hemostatic Gauze Reduces Bleeding Time after Arterial Venous Fistula Decannulation
Conclusions: WoundClot hemostatic gauze significantly reduced the time required for hemostasis after AVF decannulation and may be associated with better AVF preservation. We suggest using WoundClot for arterial BT longer than 15 min and for venous BT longer than 12.5 min.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Convalescent Blood: Current Perspective on the Efficacy of a Legacy Approach in COVID-19 Treatment
Since early 2020, COVID-19 has wreaked havoc in many societies around the world. As of the present, the SARS-CoV-2-borne disease is propagating in almost all countries, affecting hundreds of thousands of people in an unprecedented way. As the name suggests, the novel coronavirus, widely known as SARS-CoV-2, is a new emerging human pathogen. A novel disease of relatively unknown origin, COVID-19 does not seem to be amenable to the currently available medicines since there is no specific cure for the disease. In the absence of any vaccine or effective antiviral medication, we have no tools at our disposal, but the method of ...

Distinct Solute Removal Patterns by Similar Surface High-Flux Membranes in Haemodiafiltration: The Adsorption Point of View
Conclusion: Convection improves removal and slightly increases adsorption. Adsorbed proteins do not lead to enhanced PBUTs depuration and limit membrane efficiency due to fouling. Selection of the correct membrane for convective therapies is mandatory to optimize removal efficiency.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Cumulative C-Reactive Protein Levels and Progression of Malnutrition in Dialysis Patients: A Longitudinal Study
Conclusion: A long-term perspective is needed in the management of malnutrition in dialysis patients because this complication develops progressively and is often irreversible when diagnosed. Cumulative CRP values may be useful in evaluating the degree of the progression of malnutrition in following up individual patients longitudinally.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Effect of Statewide Lockdown in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic on Physical Activity Levels of Hemodialysis Patients
Conclusion: Lockdown measures were associated with a significant decrease in PAL in hemodialysis patients. Patients who contracted COVID-19 had higher PAL during the incubation period. Methods to increase PAL while allowing for social distancing should be explored and implemented.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Erythropoietin Resistance Index and the Affecting Factors in Children with Peritoneal Dialysis
Conclusion: We demonstrate that the most important factor affecting ERI value is young age. We also reveal that absence of RKF, large number of hospitalization, and ACEI use are also important variables affecting the ERI value.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Early Detection of Arteriovenous Fistula Stenosis in Hemodialysis Patients through Routine Measurements of Dialysis Dose (Kt/V)
Conclusion: In hemodialysis patients with AV fistula, treated with online HDF, routine measurements of Kt/V during each HDF are a beneficial, quick, and straightforward method for early detection of hemodynamically significant AV fistula stenosis.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

The Seraph ®-100 Microbind Affinity Blood Filter Does Not Affect Vancomycin, Tacrolimus, and Mycophenolic Acid Plasma Concentrations
Extracorporeal blood purification is considered an adjunct therapy in critically ill patients with life-threatening conditions such as sepsis and septic shock. It consists of cytokine removal, removal of endotoxins, a combination of both, or the removal of pathogens themselves. The latter technique was introduced for clinical application very recently. This case study describes a case of a 69-year-old female lung transplant recipient patient with a persistent VV-ECMO-related septic deep vein thrombosis with continuous renal replacement therapy-dependent acute kidney injury initiated on the Seraph ®-100 Microbind Affinity ...
