Effect of Blood Flow Rate on the Accuracy of Central Venous Pressure Measurement during Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Conclusions: Extracorporeal BFR has no influence on the accuracy of CVP measurement during CRRT with the net machine balance adjusted to zero regardless of the location of the catheter and the connection method between catheters and CRRT lines. Comparison of Outcomes between Percutaneous and Surgical Placement of Peritoneal Dialysis Catheters in Uremic Patients: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: The blind percutaneous method performed better with fewer overall mechanical complications and less malposition than open surgery. The leakage risk was higher in the blind percutaneous group, while the guided percutaneous placement group showed similar outcomes to the surgical method groups. Benefit of an Internet-Based Management System among Hemodialysis Patients at the Risk of Intradialytic Hypotension and Muscle Cramps: A Controlled before and after Study
Conclusion: The study found that the internet-based hemodialysis management system was effective in reducing the IDH and muscle cramp events and improving self-management. Sublingual Microcirculatory Evaluation of Extracorporeal Hemoadsorption with CytoSorb ® in Abdominal Sepsis: A Case Report
Cytokemia is associated with microcirculatory alterations often with persistent loss of coherence between the micro- and macrocirculation, linked to organ failure and poor outcome of septic patients. Addition of a hemoadsorbant filter to an extracorporeal circuit next to conventional treatment of septic shock results in the hematological clearance of cytokines, hypothetically leading to normalization of the microcirculation and thus organ perfusion. Patients with Severe Lactic Acidosis in the Intensive Care Unit: A Retrospective Study of Contributing Factors and Impact of Renal Replacement Therapy
Conclusions: Our analysis confirms the high mortality rate of patients with SLA. It adds that odds for mortality is even higher in patients who were started on RRT versus not. We suggest keeping an open mind to the factors that may influence the decision to start dialysis and bear in mind that without being a bridge to correction of the underlying condition, dialysis is unlikely to affect the outcome.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Platelet Decreases following Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Initiation as a Novel Risk Factor for Renal Nonrecovery
Conclusions: Platelet nadir #x3c;100 × 103/ µL and platelet decrease by #x3e;50% following CRRT initiation were both associated with lower rates of renal recovery. Roxadustat Improves Erythropoietin Antibody-Mediated Pure Red Cell Aplasia in a Patient with Hemodialysis
We presented a case of 75-year-old man, who underwent hemodialysis for 2 years. He developed PRCA during rHu-EPO treatment. The rHu-EPO was immediately discontinued, and the patient was given roxadustat treatment. After 6 months of roxadustat treatment, the anti-EPO antibody was disappeared, and hemoglobin recovered normal range. The results suggest that roxadustat can be used to treat patients with anti-EPO antibody-mediated PRCA without immunosuppressive therapy.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Improved Prognostic Prediction by Combination of Early Initiation of Polymyxin B Hemoperfusion with Modified Gender-Age-Physiology Index in Acute Exacerbation of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Acute Kidney Injury in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Patients: National Analysis of Impact of Age
Conclusions: AKI is common and is increasing among patients on ECMO support. Patients on ECMO have high mortality and AKI is an independent predictor of mortality. Endotoxin and Cytokine Sequential Hemoadsorption in Septic Shock and Multi-Organ Failure
The mortality of septic shock remains high [Ann Intensive Care. 2017;7:19], so apart from usual therapy based on source control and antibiotics, some patients may need rescue therapies. Blood purification systems may play a role by facilitating the nonspecific removal of inflammatory mediators and microbiological toxins.
