Aerobic Exercise Increases Vascular Diameter of Arteriovenous Fistula in Hemodialysis Patients
Conclusions: We can conclude that acute aerobic exercise was shown to be effective in improving the AVF vascular diameter in HD patients. The aerobic exercise benefits in endothelium-dependent vasodilation which may be an effective, practical, and economic strategy to maintain AVF patency.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Hemodialysis Patients with Higher Serum Levels of Soluble Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products Have an Increased Risk for Arteriovenous Fistula Failure
Conclusion: In our study, baseline, systemic sRAGE is associated with the occurrence of thrombosis of AVF, and this marker has a significant impact on AVF survival.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Sacubitril/Valsartan in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients with Heart Failure
Conclusions: HD did not remove the SAC metabolite LBQ657 or VAL in patients with HF. However, SAC/VAL 100 mg BID was safe and effective in patients undergoing HD.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Successful Treatment of Severe Lamotrigine Intoxication with CytoSorb Hemoadsorption
We report on a deeply comatosed 60-year-old woman who was treated in our intensive care unit with severe lamotrigine intoxication. To support removal from the blood, combined treatment with continuous veno-venous hemodialysis and CytoSorb hemoadsorption was started. Pre- and post-adsorber drug level measurements showed the rapid elimination of lamotrigine accompanied by an impres sive clinical improvement in the patient. Two days after treatment discontinuation, there were no more clinical signs of intoxication and the patient could be extubated, followed by transfer to the stroke unit in a stable condition the following d...

A Preliminary Case-Control Study: Peritoneal Approach in Congestive Heart Failure Treatment
Conclusions: Our study shows that the peritoneal technique is a good therapeutic tool in well-selected patients with CHF. In accordance with prior experience, this intervention has not only an important and significant clinical impact but also potential economic and social consequences.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy among Patients with COVID-19 and Acute Kidney Injury
Conclusions: We achieved adequate CRRT circuit life in COVID-19 patients using an established CVVHDF-RCA protocol. During the first 7 days of CRRT therapy, cumulative fluid balance was not associated with improvements in respiratory parameters, even after accounting for baseline fluid balance.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Efficacy of Three Renal Replacement Therapy Modalities for the Treatment of Acute Kidney Injury Caused by Wasp Sting
Conclusion: Early RRT was effective in the treatment of patients with A KI caused by wasp sting. CVVHDF + HP and CVVHDF modalities were better than the IHD + HP group in venom clearance and renal function recovery.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Supportive Effects of Online Hemodiafiltration Therapy on the Nutritional State and Lipid Profile in Very Elderly Dialysis Patients
Conclusion: These results indicated that the time-dependent deterioration of the nutritional state in very elderly dialysis patients was inevitable; however, such deterioration was not prominent in online HDF patients. Moreover, the lipid profile showed unique changes in online HDF patients. In order to treat very elderly dialysis patients, online HDF should preferentially be taken into consideration because the maintenance of general condition seems to be a practical goal against the natural time-dependent deterioration.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Development and External Validation of a Model for Predicting Sufficient Filter Lifespan in Anticoagulation-Free Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Patients
Conclusions: The use of a prediction model instead of an assessment based only on coagulation parameters could facilitate the identification of the patients with filter lifespan of ≥24 h when they accepted anticoagulation-free CRRT.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Experiences of Renal Replacement Therapy Delivery in Swedish Intensive Care Units during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Conclusion: During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, RRT demand increased extensively causing staff and equipment shortages, altered CRRT protocols, and increased use of IHD and PD. The impact on patient outcomes should be assessed to effectively plan for further surge capacity RRT demand.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

Comparison of the Clinical Effectiveness of AN69-oXiris versus AN69-ST Filter in Septic Patients: A Single-Centre Study
Conclusion: Blood purification using the AN69-oXiris or AN69-ST filter proved useful for septic patients, which was associated with reduced cytokine levels and improved clinical condition. Patients treated with AN69-oXiris had a more remarkable improvement in haemodynamic status and lower cytokine levels than those treated with AN69-ST filter, but there were no differences in clinical outcomes. Further investigations are needed to prove this finding.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)

The Accuracy of Hemoglobin A1c and Fructosamine Evaluated by Long-Term Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Undergoing Hemodialysis
Discussion: HbA1c evaluated by CGM underestimates plasma glucose levels in patients receiving HD. The underestimation represents a clinical challenge in optimizing glycemic control in the HD population. Fructosamine is unaffected by the factors affecting HbA1c and appears to be more accurate for glycemic monitoring. CGM or fructosamine could thus complement HbA1c in obtaining more accurate glycemic control in this patient group.Blood Purif (Source: Blood Purification)
