Myeloid Sarcoma: Features in Cytological Preparations and the Utility of Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) in Triage
Conclusion: MS is a rare malignancy that shows pronounced clinical, morphologic, immunophenotypic, and genetic heterogeneity that often overlaps with other neoplastic and non-neoplastic entities. Features including the presence of classic myeloblasts, promonocytes, monoblasts, nucleated red blood cells, left-shifted granulocytes, cytoplasmic granules, and pseudopods are helpful hints in cytological preparations. In the modern era where pathologists are increasingly expected to do extensive diagnostic, molecular, and therapeutic biomarker testing on tissue that is historically diminishing in size, ROSE is a highly effective...

Prognostic Value of Human Papillomavirus Genotyping before and after Cervical Conization for Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion
Conclusion: Preoperative and postoperative HR-HPV genotype tests were used to predict the cumulative incidence of abnormal cytology and additional surgery. Particularly, patients with suspected persistent HPV type 16/18 infection are at a high recurrence risk.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Immunocytochemical Reactivity Comparison between Formalin-Fixed and Liquid-Based Cytology-Fixed Specimens
Conclusion: ICC using LBC-fixed samples showed the same immunoreactivity as NBF-fixed samples when performed on cell block specimens post-fixed with NBF. The percentage of positive cells increased or decreased based on the type of fixing solution depending on the amount of antigen in the cells. Further, the detection rate of ICC with LBC-fixed samples varied according to the type of antibody and the amount of antigen in the cells. Therefore, we propose that ICC using LBC-fixed samples, including detection methods, should be carefully performed.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Applicability of On-Site Evaluation of Cervical Cytology Smears Stained with Toluidine Blue to Reduce Unsatisfactory Results
Conclusion: ROSE has been attempted on routine FNA cytology samples with success. However, the use of ROSE in cervical cytology has not been attempted to date. Lower unsatisfactory rate is an important indicator for the successful implementation of cervical cancer screening technique.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Morphometrical Differences among Endometrial Endometrioid Carcinoma Grade 1, Grade 3, and Serous Carcinoma in Endometrial Liquid-Based Cytology Preparations
Conclusion: The number of layers and area of cluster, complexity of cluster, area and complexity of nucleus, area of nucleolus, and N/N ratio were suggested to be useful for the differentiation of histological types among G1, G3, and Serous. Particularly, differences in the number of layers of cluster, size of nucleus, and size of nucleolus among histological types were large and are considered to be potentially effective points of differential diagnosis.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Clinical Contribution of Standardized Terminology for Pancreatic Lesions ’ Cytopathology
Conclusion: Using PSC-PC in EUS-FNA biopsies, pancreatic malignancy can be diagnosed with high diagnostic accuracy. In mucinous cystic lesions, some malignancies may be missed. To predict the malignancy risk of cat. IVB, assessment of dysplasia seems important. Although PSC-PC is not the only parameter in terms of diagnosing malignancy, its contribution to the clinical decision is quite high.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Relationship between Liquid-Based Cytology Preservative Solutions and Artificial Intelligence: Liquid-Based Cytology Specimen Cell Detection Using YOLOv5 Deep Convolutional Neural Network
Conclusions: The same cells were treated with different preservative solutions, the cytologic features were different, and AI clarified the difference in cytologic features depending on the type of solution. The type of preservative solution used for training and detection had an extreme influence on cell detection using AI. Although the accuracy of the deep learning model is important, it is necessary to understand that cell morphology differs depending on the type of preservative solution, which is a factor affecting the detection rate of AI.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (Surgicel ®) on Cytology/Histology
Conclusion: Assessment of the findings and based on the similar histologic appearance reported in previous cases associated with Surgicel ® [Ann Thorac Med. 2017;12(1):55 –6,Cancer Cytopathol. 2019;127(12):765 –70, andArch Bronconeumol. 2020;56(7):459 –71], the station 7 acellular, amorphous, and hyaline-like exogenous material found in our case was interpreted as hemostatic agent compatible with Surgicel® (or oxidized regenerated cellulose). This case highlights the importance of cytologic/histologic recognition of hemostatic agents, specific ally oxidized cellulose mesh.Acta Cytologica (Source: Acta Cytologica)
