How does owning a house affect financial aid (Scholarships and Grants)???
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this site, but a little bit about myself. I'm a recent graduate who will be applying during the 2021 Cycle (Starting med-school 2022). My major question pertains to having a house in my name when filling out the FAFSA. After some research, it is my understanding that owning a house or having a house in my name would not affect loans (somebody please check me on this, thank you!). But what I couldn't find out is if this would affect scholarships or grants for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MSTP Grant Scores
An adcom told me their school received a perfect score on their grant renewal for their MSTP. As an applicant--and for future applicants--I'm curious: are MSTP scores available publicly? Is there a nice document that breaks down this information? It would be really awesome to see trends over the past few decades of how programs have evolved and grown, and if there were deficiencies (e.g. I heard Harvard/MIT had their funding frozen for a bit before they fixed supporting their students), how... Academic INR
Hi I'm wondering if a career in Interventional neuroradiology is amenable to being in a serious academic position. Would it be acceptable to a department at a large academic institution to hire someone with goals to apply for NIH grants and spend ~75% time doing research. If it is, how common is this? How to be a good mentee?
I've been fortunate in that I've had good mentors throughout my career, but it's usually been somewhat transactional in that I could provide something to them in exchange for their time and energy (leading a study, leading manuscripts, leading or helping with a grant app, etc)--probably not an equal exchange but not entirely one-sided. Now, I have a mentor who needs absolutely nothing I can offer, and it's... sort of uncomfortable? She's a prominent academic at an R1 who I met years ago when... How to be a good mentee? Realistic Hopes of gaining a training position in internal medicine Australia as UK trained graduate?
Hi guys first time poster here! Need some help as I'm keen to make some big life changes but unclear of how realistic my hopes are. I'm Canadian by citizenship but I've completed medical school in the UK and have just started FY2 here. Personally I feel my time in the UK has come to end as I want a new adventure and better working conditions. Australia! I understand being apart of the commonwealth grants me the one year in the competent authority pathway. After this how realistic is it... Clinician Scientist K08 Grant Number Declines Over Last Decade
First- sorry for the poor image quality. Second- I am not an expert on this subject, and I'm sure there are aspects of these funding mechanisms I'm missing or not privy to. This is a screen grab of a graph I made on the change in percentage of K08 grants (Clinician Investigator Awards) between 2009 and 2018 by institute and in aggregate. Data source is table 110 from the NIH RePORT, linked below. Bottom Line: % Change in number of transitional awards... Using Secondary/Supplemental Letter to Correct AMCAS mistakes (childhood info)
I made a few mistakes on my AMCAS application in the Childhood Information section (for additional context, I declared and received SES disadvantaged status): Pell-Grant received - should be yes Highest Education Received by Parents - should be less than bachelor's First Generation - should be yes based on the correction to highest education received by parents No one to blame but myself - I should have really clarified this with my parents before submitting. It is... Using Secondary/Supplemental Letter to Correct AMCAS mistakes (childhood info) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What ’s the best way you suggest to pass COMLEX Level 1 in 6 weeks?
I have a poor content foundation and have 6 weeks to pass COMLEX Level 1. I don’t care about the score, just want to pass (not gunning for anything outside primary care). I know I’m on limited time, but hoping to target high-yield stuff that’ll grant easy points. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CARES Act - SBA - Any 1099 Independent Contractors apply for the EIDL or PPP?
I'm currently working in a small private practice group and just wondering if people are applying for the EIDL 10,000$ advance (grant?) vs the PPP loan which can be forgiven up to about 100k/12months x 2.5 (about 20.8k), or applied for both? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
