FAFSA this year???
Just saw this line in a communucation from a school regarding FAFSA this year: "Medical students will not be able to include parental information, however, all need-based grants and loan programs require parental financial information to be taken into consideration to be awarded." I am really confused. If we can't include parent info, which is required, how are we supposed to proceed for financial aid consideration when FAFSA opens? Am I missing something? Timing of Merit Scholarships
Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you all well and thriving in your pre-med journey. I am currently navigating through the labyrinth of medical school applications and have stumbled upon a question that I believe many of us might be pondering: When do medical schools typically offer merit scholarships? I understand that financial aid packages, including need-based scholarships, grants, and loans, are generally distributed around March or April. However, I am specifically curious... Physician scientists in industry
I'm at a mid-low tier MD/PhD program, on track for several 1st authors, won a grant from a foreign government. My work is 100% dry lab, computational/AI stuff, so not exactly high start up costs. I am increasingly unsure about pursuing a life in academia. The tedium of grant writing and the limited impact that academic research has is making me rethink things. I know people in biotech and arguably they're doing cutting edge work with higher upside. Ultimately, I want my work to be impactful... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Licensing/career advice
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. Im a first-time licensee applicant. After waiting for 7 months I received notification that the State medical board will grant me a license on probationary status for two years to include monitoring and treatment secondary to EtOH use (self-referral to detox while still in training 3.5 years ago). Along with the probationary status and monitoring, they are going to make it public discipline with reports to FSMB and NPDB. Im wondering if... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I stick with this research experience?
I've really been struggling finding research for my summer after M1. I'm currently interested in psych and FM, but this could change. One potential research experience is with a psychologist where I create an annotated bibliography to help them with the intro of a grant proposal of theirs. I would have the opportunity to continue working on this project during the school year, but during the summer its mainly creating an annotated bibliography for their grant proposal. He mentioned doing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I list every publication on ERAS?
Hey all, current M4 shooting for PM&R this coming cycle. Have around 20ish journal publications and 10 conference presentations. Out of these, only two are PM&R specific (an experimental trial involved stroke patients for rehab trial). A couple of them are sports science/med related. The majority of the rest are surgery-related animal/basic science studies that I still pump out papers up until today. Also received grants and funding for these projects as the lead investigator. Now my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
