How does my spouse effect financial aid?
So I am marrying a med student the summer before he heads to med school. He has no undergrad debt and I have a good bit of undergrad debt. He got lots of grants for undergrad based on his parent's financials. So my questions are: does he have to do this year's FAFSA in regards to us and not report his parents at all ( I read that once you were married you are considered independent in terms of the FAFSA)? And how does redoing the FAFSA work since we won't be married until a month before... How does my spouse effect financial aid? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it okay to submit AMCAS mid-June?
Hey all! So due to a delay in the processing my FAP application, I was unable to register for the May 5th MCAT test date as I'd originally intended. I have, however, registered for the May 18th exam. My alma mater requires all applicants to receive their MCAT scores before sending out their applications - which I see as being a smart rule to have. Their official deadline is May 5th, but I am reasonably certain they will grant me the two week extension and allow me to apply this cycle.... Is it okay to submit AMCAS mid-June? What is considered in-state?
I am a high school senior and I've lived in Chicago my whole life. I'm trying to decide between Northwestern and USC for college. I know that many med schools have a higher in-state admission rate. By going to USC, will that grant me California in-state status? What about Illinois in-state status? Any help is appreciated, thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

This is may sound dumb, but it's a legit question, can a director of admissions grant full acceptanc
What I mean is if one has taken MCAT and done his/her courses can a director of admissions give that a person a seat and override the whole process. Obviously this will never happen unless that kid is the son of a generous donor, but I was arguing with my friend that the Dean of admission isn' just some pencil pusher and actually has more power than assumed (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should my friend go to UC Davis for undergrad since they are the best vet school?
Out of the schools they got accepted to, they are stuck between Washington State University, University of Tennessee - Knoxville, and UC Davis They have in-state tuition for WSU and UT, but not for UC Davis. They have very little money, and because of the FAFSA being for 2016, they won't get the Pell Grant, so UC Davis would be very expensive for them, but they are tempted to go since it is ranked #1 for the world in vet med for their graduate school rankings. They would be going for... Should my friend go to UC Davis for undergrad since they are the best vet school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

496 mcat?
Hey everyone! I have followed these forums for quite some time and I can't thank you all enough! Anyways, I was hesitant about posting this question, because I assumed I would get conflicting answers, but here it goes. Long story short, I have been blessed with multiple opportunities to pursue my medical school dreams, and one of them is through an SMP program. This program grants a guaranteed admission into a local medical school that I love. The only barriers to entry is the MCAT, and I... 496 MCAT? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much benefit does going to a state school ’s undergrad grant if you’re not from that state?
I’m a student at UNC Chapel Hill but my home state is not NC. If I don’t achieve NC residency (which is likely, they’re super stingy about it) by the time I apply, how much of a benefit will attending UNC for undergrad give me? I know it won’t be as much as being from NC, but will it be substantial enough for me to apply without having a 3.9+ and 36 MCAT? It seems those are the stats UNC takes from out of staters. Test Prep Teaching - Non-Compete Question
Hi Everyone, I know many of you have worked for test prep companies like Princeton Review, Kaplan, etc. I am considering SAT tutoring for PR. Here's my question.... I'd like to look for an LSAT tutoring job later in the year, after I take the June test (I love the LSAT). But I don't want to teach LSAT for Princeton Review - other companies pay much, much more. If I sign a non-compete with Princeton Review for SAT tutoring, will that apply to LSAT tutoring as well?? Even if I never train... One hour a week hobby while pursuing Pre-Med
I currently work full time and take care of my older parents. (EDIT: Currently not in school, plan to take pre-med courses in next few months) For hobby (and major de-stressor) I paint several hours a week. To familiarize myself with anatomy I am attempting to paint figures from Grant's Atlas of Human Anatomy (found 1960s Edition lying around our home). I believe this is a rather fantastic way to start learning and really appreciating what a marvelous machine the human body is. However,...
