Accept / Defer from wait list for Fellowship
I recently found out that I was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant. At the time I was already accepted to a medical school and they agreed to defer my enrollment. I was and am still waitlisted for other schools I'd like to attend. Should I mention this to schools where I'm waitlisted? At this point in time, would any school have interest in admitting an applicant they know will defer? Even if it's for a Fulbright research scholarship? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

FAFSA and Non-trad students
Guys, If you have worked for a few years and saved ..let's say over 50k,.. FAFSA asks you to list your assets. Is it better to put this in Roth IRA, or other accounts that FAFSA doesn't count instead of cold hard cash, because then your EFC goes up and you may not get as many loans / grants for medical school. Or bc we dont get subsidized loans anyways for medical school, it wouldn't make a big difference? However Stafford non subsidized loans seems like a better option than other private... Leaving malignant TRI year with contract for follow-on residency in place
I could really use some advice. I'm currently a PGY-1 doing a TRI year. I have a contract for an IM residency position to begin in July at a new institution. I'll be coming in as a PGY-1 again, as this new residency will not grant me any time for my current year. Anyway, the program I am at now is malignant, especially the program director. We have never liked one another, and it appears he is doing everything in his power to get me dismissed. I have not been a "perfect" resident, but... Psychiatry Clinician Educator Jobs FAQs
Since there have been several threads with questions related to this... 1. What is a clinician educator? For the past 20 years or so, most major academic medical centers have created clinician-educator track positions for primarily clinical faculty, separate from academic faculty. Clinician-Educator faculty are hired and promoted based primarily on their clinical and educational roles, and not on scholarly activity or ability to get (federal) grants as principal investigators.... Georgetown vs. Hofstra vs. Downstate
Hey guys, Part of the "happy problem" squad, but I realized that this problem is way harder to solve than I thought. My choices come down to Georgetown, Hofstra and Downstate. I think all three of these schools are great but one doesn't obviously stick out over the others. With Hofstra (the cheapest school right now as a comparison), I will have to owe ~$25,000 more to go to Downstate, and ~$45,000 more to go to Georgetown by graduation, considering grants, scholarships, and... How much of the financial aid award offer should we accept?
So recently, I have received the financial aid offer for the first year of dental school. There are three sections: grant (automatically accepted), and then Direct Unsub Stafford Loan and Direct Unsub Staf 2. Both of those loans have only been offered and it is up to me to accept them. My main question is, how much of the loan should we accept? I don't expect to need to use the max amount of loans the school offers. Also, if we don't use all that we accept, can we turn it back in after the... How much of the financial aid award offer should we accept? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much $$$ to choose your 2nd choice med school...
I've seen a lot in the Decide between X and Y the real dilemma is "I love school A, but school B offered me $X,XXX amount of scholarship/aid" what do I do? So how much money (scholarship, grant, etc...) total would your "less-desired" (option B) school need to offer, for you to accept them and decline your acceptance at your "preferred" (option A) school?
