IJERPH, Vol. 21, Pages 545: The Relationship between Anxiety Symptoms and Perceived Quality of Life among Caregivers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Amazon
Gomes The relationship between anxiety symptoms and perceived quality of life among caregivers of children with autism was verified. To assess perceived quality of life, the Short Form Healthy Survey Item was used; perception of anxiety symptoms was assessed using the Beck Anxiety Inventory. Eighty caregivers of children with autism participated, with 68.7% of caregivers being mothers. Of the total number of caregivers, 68.8% had a severe level of anxiety. Regarding perceived quality of life, they demonstrated greater impairment in limitation due to physical aspects, limitation due to emotional aspects, vitality, and p...

Problematic Online Behaviours among University Students and Associations with Psychological Distress Symptoms and Emotional Role Limitations: A Network Analysis Approach
AbstractVery little research has simultaneously explored the interactions between generalized problematic internet use (GPIU), problematic social media use (PSMU), problematic online gaming (POG), psychological distress, and emotional well-being among university students. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine (i) the associations between GPIU, PSMU, and POG symptoms, (ii) whether symptoms of these three problematic online behaviours form distinct entities, and (iii) whether there are associations between problematic online behaviours, psychological distress symptoms, and emotional role limitations using network a...

PBPK modeling to predict the pharmacokinetics of venlafaxine and its active metabolite in different CYP2D6 genotypes and drug-drug interactions with clarithromycin and paroxetine
This study aimed to establish the PBPK models of venlafaxine and its active metabolite related to CYP2D6 genetic polymorphism and to predict drug-drug interactions (DDIs) with clarithromycin and paroxetine in different CYP2D6 genotypes. Clinical pharmacogenomic data for venlafaxine and desvenlafaxine were collected to build the PBPK model. Physicochemical and absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) characteristics of respective compounds were obtained from previously reported data, predicted by the PK-Sim® software, or optimized to capture the plasma concentration-time profiles. Model evaluation was per...

Mapping functions for the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 to generate EQ-5D-3L for economic evaluation
ConclusionsRecommended mapping functions provide users with an approach to estimate EQ-5D-3L utilities for economic evaluation using PHQ-9, GAD-7, or both scores where they have been used together. (Source: The European Journal of Health Economics)

Screening for those at risk for anxiety and depression warranting further clinical evaluation among patients presenting to breast services: a single-centre, cross-sectional study
Conclusions There is a high prevalence of being at risk for anxiety and depression among patients who seek breast services warranting further clinical evaluation. The predictors of being at risk for anxiety were higher age and postmenopausal status, and for those at risk for depression were young age and residing in rural areas. (Source: BMJ Open)

Lifetime prevalence, comorbidities, and Sociodemographic predictors of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): the National Epidemiology of Iranian Children and adolescents Psychiatric disorders (IRCAP)
Conclusion: Our results in the prevalence, comorbidities, and sociodemographic factors associated with PTSD supported findings of previous studies that used a structured diagnostic interview. It is recommended to use purposive sampling and to investigate comorbidities of PTSD and type of traumatic events in a large clinical population. (Source: European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)

Analyzing the Quality of Life in Individuals with Fragile X Syndrome in Relation to Sleep and Mental Health
This study included 119 individuals with Fragile X Syndrome who were given different cognitive examinations by a neuropsychologist or by parent-proxy questionnaires. This study focused on the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQoL), the Anxiety, Depression and Mood Scale (ADAMS), the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), but did include other cognitive tests (Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scales, Nonverbal IQ, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule). We identified significant associations between decreases in emotional, social and school domains of PedsQoL and the ADAMS subtests of Generalized Anxiety, Manic/Hy...

Newer Treatments for Mood and Anxiety Disorders
For more than 20  years, the mainstay of pharmacologic treatment for depression and anxiety disorders has been serotonin reuptake inhibitors and selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. There are newer medications, many with novel mechanisms of action, that have come to market; however, first-lin e treatments remain the same. There are now more robust data on the use of various augmentation agents in the treatment of major depressive disorder providing better recommendations for use by the primary care provider. Data to support the use of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in the treatment o f mood and ...

Grey matter alterations in generalized anxiety disorder: A voxel-wise meta-analysis of voxel-based morphometry studies
CONCLUSION: GAD might have the modest grey matter alterations in the left superior temporal gyrus. Anxiety severity might be related to the grey matter alterations in the limbic regions, such as the right insula, lenticular nucleus, putamen and striatum. This kind of correlation might be related to the effects of adult GAD. Future studies with adequate sample sizes and sophisticated GAD categories will be needed.PMID:38638086 | DOI:10.1002/jdn.10330 (Source: International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience)
