Depression and anxiety among patients with epilepsy: A cross-sectional study from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: This study found that PWE had a higher prevalence of MDD and GAD than the general population. However, this accepted paradigm has yet to reflect a meaningful change in constructing condition-specific recommendations for PWE. Our study revealed that the presence of subjectively recognized signs of an impending ictal episode was significantly associated with a higher risk of moderate and severe depression and anxiety. Furthermore, factors that increase the susceptibility to seizures were associated with a higher risk of depression and anxiety. Irregular medication use was associated with a higher risk of moderate...

Photophobia is associated with lower sleep quality in individuals with migraine: results from the American Registry for Migraine Research (ARMR)
ConclusionResults suggest that photophobia is a significant predictor of poor sleep quality and sleep disturbances in migraine. These results underscore the necessity for comprehensive and systematic investigations into the intricate interplay between photophobia and sleep to enhance our understanding and develop tailored solutions for individuals with migraine. Physical Exercise Transforms the Topography and Increases the Invulnerability of the Symptom Network of Depression-Anxiety in the Elderly
CONCLUSIONS: Physical exercise affected core symptoms of depression-anxiety and the interactions of symptoms. Targeting central or bridge nodes may be an effective intervention for alleviating the comorbidity. Increased network invulnerability manifested the positive effects of physical exercise.PMID:38600811 | DOI:10.1002/cpp.2971 (Source: Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy)

Distinct profiles of mental health need and high need overall among New Zealand adolescents - Cluster analysis of population survey data
CONCLUSION: We identified high prevalence of mental health challenges among adolescents, with distinct clusters of need. Youth mental health is not 'one size fits all'. Future research should explore youth behaviour and preferences in accessing support and consider how to best support the mental health of each cluster.PMID:38600641 | DOI:10.1177/00048674241243262 (Source: The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry)

The Role of Black Churches in Promoting Mental Health for Communities of Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Black Americans
CONCLUSIONS: Uptake of traditional mental health services was low, and reliance on faith and resource distribution by the church was high. Church-led interventions are needed to promote mental health at the individual and community levels. Mental health stigma, and negative attitudes toward mental health promotion in the community, may be addressed by integrating traditional mental health services in church-based recreational and leisure activities.PMID:38595118 | DOI:10.1176/appi.ps.20230263 (Source: Psychiatric Services)
