The Role of Black Churches in Promoting Mental Health for Communities of Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Black Americans
CONCLUSIONS: Uptake of traditional mental health services was low, and reliance on faith and resource distribution by the church was high. Church-led interventions are needed to promote mental health at the individual and community levels. Mental health stigma, and negative attitudes toward mental health promotion in the community, may be addressed by integrating traditional mental health services in church-based recreational and leisure activities.PMID:38595118 | DOI:10.1176/appi.ps.20230263 (Source: Psychiatric Services)

Anxiety and depression status in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and outcomes of nintedanib treatment: an observational study
CONCLUSION: Anxiety and depression in IPF patients are closely related to somatic symptoms, pulmonary function, and quality of life. The SGRQ-T score is of great value for assessing anxiety and depression in patients with IPF. Short-term treatment with nintedanib antifibrotic therapy can alleviate anxiety and depression in IPF patients.PMID:38581666 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2323097 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Food insecurity and coping strategies associate with higher risk of anxiety and depression among South African households with children
CONCLUSIONS: Food insecurity among households with children was high following the COVID-19 pandemic. Collaborative efforts between government, private sector and civil society to eradicate food insecurity should prioritise poorer households with children, as these populations are the most vulnerable.PMID:38576137 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000879 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)
