Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with DNA copy number changes in a Japanese black calf
AbstractA 2-month-old Japanese Black calf exhibited mandibular and superficial cervical lymph node swelling. Fine needle aspiration cytology of the superficial cervical lymph node revealed large lymphoblast-like cells with mitoses. Hematological examination revealed remarkable lymphocytosis with atypical lymphocytes. Increased activities of serum total lactate dehydrogenase and thymidine kinase were detected. At necropsy, generalized swelling of lymph nodes was observed. Histopathological analysis revealed diffuse proliferation of medium-sized round centroblastic neoplastic cells that were positive for CD20, CD79 α, PAX5,...

Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2312: Advancing Breast Cancer Diagnosis through Breast Mass Images, Machine Learning, and Regression Models
ian Breast cancer results from a disruption of certain cells in breast tissue that undergo uncontrolled growth and cell division. These cells most often accumulate and form a lump called a tumor, which may be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Malignant tumors can spread quickly throughout the body, forming tumors in other areas, which is called metastasis. Standard screening techniques are insufficient in the case of metastasis; therefore, new and advanced techniques based on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and regression models have been introduced, the primary aim of which is to automat...

The utility of endobronchial ultrasound ‐guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy (EBUS‐TBMC) for the diagnosis of mediastinal lymphoma
We present a gentleman with anterior mediastinal mass who underwent EBUS-transbronchial needle aspirate (TBNA) followed by EBUS-TBMC. TBMC samples provided adequate tissue to attain a diagnosis of primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. AbstractEndobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a revolutionary tool for the diagnosis and staging of mediastinal disorders. Nevertheless, its diagnostic capability is reduced in certain disorders such as lymphoproliferative diseases. EBUS-guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy (EBUS-TBMC) is a novel technique that can provide larger samples ...

A vocal cord palsy caused by the uterine cancer metastatic tumor in the mediastinum revealed in a patient with a  thyroid lesion: a case report and review of the literature
ConclusionA history of the disease should always be kept in mind when assessing a patient ’s complaints. VCP in case of thyroid pathology and previous secondary malignancy may be caused by metastatic tumor anywhere along the RLN pathway. Such a rare case shows the importance of additional methods of examination which may avoid unnecessary thyroid surgeries. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

51 Percutaneous tissue sampling in thoracic oncology - are core biopsies bigger and better?
Small biopsies are the predominant source of tissue diagnosis in thoracic malignancy. As more tissue is required for expanding range of targets, should core biopsies replace fine-needle aspiration to ensure delivering enough material for diagnosis? (Source: Lung Cancer)

39 A multi-centre analysis of the performance of EBUS-TBNA testing for comprehensive molecular profiling in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is an important diagnostic tool in lung cancer. Since 2021, the National Optimal Pathway for Lung Cancer in Wales has mandated reflex testing, using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for all stage non-small cell lung cancer in line with ESMO recommendations. The utilisation of NGS technologies in EBUS-TBNA specimens has been questioned, especially relating to the volume of tissue needed for successful DNA and RNA analysis. (Source: Lung Cancer)

The role of fine-needle aspiration biopsy in the diagnosis of malignant tumors
Rom J Morphol Embryol. 2024 Jan-Mar;65(1):81-87. doi: 10.47162/RJME.65.1.10.ABSTRACTCytopathology and histopathology play a key role in the process of diagnosing oncological diseases and premalignant conditions. Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is one of the techniques used for obtaining biopsy of a wide variety of body tissues, causing patients minimal discomfort. Therefore, it is often considered to be the best strategy for investigating and diagnosing some precancerous or potential malignant lesions. Being successful as a means of confirming the clinical suspicion of metastatic recurrence in the cases of an already known ca...
