Risk Factors and Prediction Models for Postoperative Pathologically Malignant TI-RADS 3 Thyroid Nodules
Conclusion: Young age, iso/hypo/very hypo echo, echogenic foci, nodule diameter <30 mm, and low level of PTH are independent risk factors for TI-RADS 3 thyroid carcinomas. This prediction model has a high sensitivity and specificity. A prediction model value of more than 0.074 implies that the TI-RADS 3 nodule has undergone a malignant transformation, and fine needle aspiration is recommended in these cases.PMID:38380607 | DOI:10.1177/01455613241228078 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Spindle cell carcinoma of male breast: Report of a rare case
We report a rare case of spindle cell carcinoma, a histological subtype of metaplastic breast carcinoma, in a 40-year-old male who presented with an ulcero-proliferative lump in the right breast. Fine-needle aspiration cytology of the lesion showed poorly cohesive clusters of pleomorphic spindle-shaped cells, suggestive of malignant spindle cell tumor. Right mastectomy along with ipsilateral lymph node dissection was performed. Microscopic evaluation revealed a neoplasm comprising interlacing fascicles of oval to spindled pleomorphic cells with brisk mitosis and areas of necrosis. There was no nodal metastasis. Immunohisto...

Role of General Anesthesia and Rapid On-site Evaluation
in the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer with EBUS-TBNA
Conclusion Compared to the combination of local anesthesia with intravenous analgesia and sedation, the implementation of EBUS-TBNA under general anesthesia, with or without ROSE, achieves equally accurate results, and general anesthesia combined with ROSE can reduce in the number of lymph node puncture needles.

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 71-year-old man with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) presented to our department with a 1-week history of a painful mass in the left submandibular area. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging revealed an irregular-shaped tumor with a diameter of 2.0 cm in the left submandibular gland and a metastatic lymph node with a diameter of 1.0 cm adjacent to the tumor. Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/CT revealed increased uptake in the tumor. Fine-needle aspiration cytology revealed atypica...

Interobserver variability in thyroid ultrasound
ConclusionsInterobserver agreement was acceptable for the identification of nodules requiring cytologic study using various classification systems. However, limited concordance was observed in risk stratification and many ultrasonographic characteristics of the nodules. (Source: Endocrine)
