Predicting onset risk of COVID-19 symptom to support healthy travel route planning in the new normal of long-term coexistence with SARS-CoV-2
Environ Plan B Urban Anal City Sci. 2023 Jun;50(5):1212-1227. doi: 10.1177/23998083221127703. Epub 2022 Sep 17.ABSTRACTDue to the increased outdoor transmission risk of new SARS-COV-2 variants, the health of urban residents in daily travel is being threatened. In the new normal of long-term coexistence with SARS-CoV-2, how to avoid being infected by SARS-CoV-2 in daily travel has become a key issue. Hence, a spatiotemporal solution has been proposed to assist healthy travel route planning. Firstly, an enhanced urban-community-scale geographic model was proposed to predict daily COVID-19 symptom onset risk by incorporating ...

Spatial variations of the third and fourth COVID-19 waves in Hong Kong: A comparative study using built environment and socio-demographic characteristics
This study analyses spatial patterns of the third and fourth COVID-19 epidemic waves and then evaluates the spatial relationship between case incidence and built environment and socio-demographic characteristics. By collecting local-related cases, this study incorporates a two-fold analytical strategy: (1) Using rank-size distribution and log-odd ratio to depict the spatial pattern of COVID-19 incidence rates; (2) through global and local regression models, investigating incidence's associations with the urban built environment and socio-demographic characteristics. The results reveal that the two different epidemic waves ...

GeoInfographic design of the multi-spatiality of borders: A case study of epidemic prevention and control in Ruili, China
Environ Plan B Urban Anal City Sci. 2023 May;50(4):1126-1129. doi: 10.1177/23998083231165999. Epub 2023 Apr 1.ABSTRACTWe live in a world of borders, which influence our perception and movement. Traditional mapping techniques show limitations as borders have become shifting and complex, and borders' multi-scale and multi-spatial properties have been strengthened significantly. To fill the knowledge gap, we explored the multi-spatiality of borders and provided approaches for border symbol design and visualization by taking the coronavirus-hit border city, Ruili, China, as an example. This work could shed light on multi-spati...

Perceived Hospital Preparedness Is Negatively Associated With Pandemic-Induced Psychological Vulnerability in Primary Care Employees: A Multicentre Cross-Sectional Observational Study
CONCLUSIONS: Difficult working conditions during the pandemic had a major impact on the psychological wellbeing of emergency department HPs, but this effect might have been lessened if they had been informed about adequate measures for minimizing the risk of exposure.PMID:38600791 | DOI:10.1002/cpp.2969 (Source: Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy)

Development of Mucoadhesive Microspheres for Intranasal Delivery of Fluconazole as an Alternative Treatment of Cryptococcal Meningitis Infection in Patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency
This study aimed to develop a mucoadhesive microsphere delivery system for fluconazole for the intranasal route. Microspheres of mucoadhesive fluconazole formulation variables, such as different amounts of drug concentration and polymer concentration, were prepared by a simple emulsion-crosslinking method. The prepared microspheres' surface was characterised by SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) and evaluated for particle size, entrapment efficiency, production yield, infrared spectroscopic study, in-vitro mucoadhesion, and in-vitro drug release. The results showed that formula 1 is the optimal mucoadhesive microsphere pre...
