Prevalence and clinical features of pollen-food allergy syndrome in adults with seasonal allergic rhinitis
CONCLUSIONS: PFAS can be frequently observed in adults who are followed up for SAR. The most frequently involved foods are eggplant, walnut, kiwi, peach, and melon in Ankara Province. The symptoms of PFAS are usually localized in the oropharyngeal area and are self-limited.PMID:36647856 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202301_30858 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Part I: Non-faradaic electrochemical impedance-based DNA biosensor for detecting phytopathogen - Ralstonia solanacearum
Bioelectrochemistry. 2023 Jan 7;150:108370. doi: 10.1016/j.bioelechem.2023.108370. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHerein, we report for the first time the development of a label-free, non-faradaic, and highly sensitive DNA-based impedimetric sensor using micro-sized gold interdigitated electrodes (IDE) to detect a soil-borne agricultural pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum. A universal 30 oligomer single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) probe lpxC4 having specificity towards R. solanacearum is successfully immobilized on the surface of IDE along with mercaptohexanol. The electrochemical stability of the developed sensor surface is determin...

Systems biology reveals anatabine to be an NRF2 activator
Anatabine, an alkaloid present in plants of the Solanaceae family (including tobacco and eggplant), has been shown to ameliorate chronic inflammatory conditions in mouse models, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, multiple sclerosis, and intestinal inflammation. However, the mechanisms of action of anatabine remain unclear. To understand the impact of anatabine on cellular systems and identify the molecular pathways that are perturbed, we designed a study to examine the concentration-dependent effects of anatabine on various cell types by using a systems pharmacology approach. The resulting dataset, c...

Assessment of Co-Sensitization between Pollen and Food Allergen Sources among Bengali Population, West Bengal, India
Conclusion: The present study established that co-sensitivity between pollen and food allergen sources were predominant in allergic patients of West Bengal. The co-sensitization patterns among unrelated allergen sources may be due to possible expression of biologic cross-reactivity to similar allergens.Int Arch Allergy Immunol (Source: International Archives of Allergy and Immunology)

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 7013: Metabolomic Analysis of Phytochemical Compounds from Agricultural Residues of Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.)
This study aimed to identify and quantify the metabolome and determine the composition of select phytochemicals and the overall antioxidant capacity of various anatomical parts of the plant. The plant’s root, leaf, stem, and fruit were analyzed by quantitative mass spectrometry-based untargeted metabolomics and chemoinformatics, and phytochemicals were quantified by spectrophotometric analysis. Moreover, we determined the total antioxidant capacity of the distinct plant parts to infer a possible biological effect of the plant’s metabolites. Various secondary metabolites were identified as terpen...

Genetic diversity analysis of Eggplant Germplasm from Iran: assessments by morphological and SSR markers
CONCLUSIONS: High levels of heterozygosity and polymorphism information content (PIC) were observed in this study. This not only indicated high levels of polymorphism and an equal distribution of the evaluated loci but also suggested that these genotypes can be considered for the development of diverse parental lines which are of interest in breeding programs.PMID:36190613 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-022-07768-5 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 12547: Characteristics and Residual Health Risk of Organochlorine Pesticides in Fresh Vegetables in the Suburb of Changchun, Northeast China
In this study, eleven organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in fresh vegetables in the Changchun suburb were investigated, and their potential health risks were evaluated. The average concentrations of OCPs in edible parts of vegetables were found in the following descending order: Σhexachlorocyclohexanes (ΣHCHs) (6.60 µg·kg−1) > Σdichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (ΣDDTs) (5.82 µg·kg−1) > ΣChlordanes (2.37 µg·kg&minus...
