Effects of < em > Phoenix dactylifera < /em > against Streptozotocin-Aluminium Chloride Induced Alzheimer's Rats and Their In Silico Study
This study is aimed at evaluating the effect of P. dactylifera seeds to cure Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD was induced in the rats with streptozotocin + aluminium chloride followed by treatment of methanolic extract of P. dactylifera seeds. The blood glucose levels were determined at regular intervals, which showed a prominent decrease in the extracts treated group. Behavior tests, including the Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) test and Morris Water Maze (MWM) test, were used to evaluate memory patterns in rats. The results indicated that extract-treated rats significantly improved memory behavior compared to the diseased group. Af...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 802: Efficient Remediation of Cadmium- and Lead-Contaminated Water by Using Fe-Modified Date Palm Waste Biochar-Based Adsorbents
ary Heavy metals pollution of water resources is an emerging concern worldwide and seeks immediate attention. Date palm waste was transformed into biochar (BC), which was further modified through Fe-intercalation for the production of magnetic biochar (Fe-BC) in this study. The produced BC and Fe-BC were analyzed for chemical, proximate, surface, and elemental composition. The efficiency of the produced adsorbents to decontaminate the water from Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions was investigated through kinetics and an isotherm adsorption batch trial. Kinetics adsorption data fit well with the pseudo-second order and power function m...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 8740: In Silico Comparative Exploration of Allergens of Periplaneta americana, Blattella germanica and Phoenix dactylifera for the Diagnosis of Patients Suffering from IgE-Mediated Allergic Respiratory Diseases
mmad Zeeshan Najm The burden of allergic illnesses is continuously rising, and patient diagnosis is a significant problem because of how intricately hereditary and environmental variables interact. The past three to four decades have seen an outbreak of allergies in high-income countries. According to reports on the illness, asthma affects around 300 million individuals worldwide. Identifying clinically important allergens for the accurate classification of IgE-mediated allergy respiratory disease diagnosis would be beneficial for implementing standardized allergen-associated therapy. Therefore, the current study inclu...

Chromosome-level Reference Genome Provides Insights into Divergence and Stress Adaptation of the African Oil Palm
Genomics Proteomics Bioinformatics. 2022 Nov 23:S1672-0229(22)00143-7. doi: 10.1016/j.gpb.2022.11.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe palm family (Arecaceae), consisting of ∼ 2600 species, is the third most economically important family of plants. The African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is one of the most important palms. However, the genome sequences of palms that are currently available are still limited and fragmented. Here, we report a high-quality chromosome-level reference genome of an oil palm, Dura. The genome of 1.7 Gb was assembled by integrating long reads with ∼ 150× genome coverage. The assembled geno...

Barhi date (Phoenix dactylifera) extract ameliorates hepatocellular carcinoma in male rats
Biomed Pharmacother. 2022 Dec;156:113976. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113976. Epub 2022 Nov 7.ABSTRACTHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor with limited treatment options. Given this fact, it may be important to develop new molecular targeted therapies from natural products, especially those which are primary sources of effective anticancer drugs with distinct mechanisms. Moreover, the complementary use of traditional herbs or fruit may increase the possibility of finding curative options for cancer. Here we explore the anticancer effects and possible molecular mechanism of Barhi date extract using an HCC rat ...
