Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 1734: Schiff Base Functionalized Cellulose: Towards Strong Support-Cobalt Nanoparticles Interactions for High Catalytic Performances
d Kaddami A new hybrid catalyst consisting of cobalt nanoparticles immobilized onto cellulose was developed. The cellulosic matrix is derived from date palm biomass waste, which was oxidized by sodium periodate to yield dialdehyde and was further derivatized by grafting orthoaminophenol as a metal ion complexing agent. The new hybrid catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, solid-state NMR, XRD, SEM, TEM, ICP, and XPS. The catalytic potential of the nanocatalyst was then evaluated in the catalytic hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol under mild experimental conditions in aqueous medium in the presence of NaBH4 a...

Date ( < em > Phoenix dactylifera < /em > L. Mill) fruit enhances sexual performance via modulation of oxido-inflammatory mediators and purinergic signaling in hypertensive male rats
Conclusion: Findings presented in this study suggest that dietary inclusion of P. dactylifera could be useful in managing erectile dysfunction (ED) commonly observed in subjects with hypertension. Findings highlighted in this study thus provide the scientific basis supporting the folkloric use of P. dactylifera as a key ingredient in aphrodisiac supplements.PMID:38483941 | DOI:10.1080/1354750X.2024.2331502 (Source: Biomarkers)

Pesticide residues in fresh Mazafati date fruit, soil, and water, and assessment of potential health risks to consumers
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Mar 11. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-32760-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA quantitative method based on quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe technique (QuEChERS) sample extraction and ultra-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) was evolved for the determination of 47 pesticide residues in fresh Mazafati date fruits from Bam City of Kerman Province, Iran. The recoveries for selected pesticides ranged from 88 to 110% with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 20% at concentrations of 0.05 and 0.1 mg kg-1. The proposed method had a linear ...

Investigating the characteristics of biomass wastes via particle feeder in downdraft gasifier
Environ Res. 2024 Mar 8:118597. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2024.118597. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTParticle feeding plays a crucial role in the gasifier due to its effects on the efficiency and performance metrics of the thermochemical process. Investigating particle size distribution's impact on downdraft gasification reactor performance, this study delves into the significance of feedstock characteristics (moisture, volatile matter, fixed carbon, and ash contents) during the particle feeding stage. Various biomass wastes (date palm waste, olive pomace and sewage sludge) at diverse compositions and sizes are subjected to em...

Unraveling the diversity and cultural heritage of fruit crops through paleogenomics
This article delves into the potential of paleogenomics that utilizes ancient DNA analysis to revive lost diversity. By focusing on grapevines, date palms, and tomatoes, recent studies showcase the effectiveness of paleogenomic techniques in identifying and understanding genetic traits crucial for crop resilience, disease resistance, and nutritional value. The approach not only tracks landrace dispersal and introgression but also sheds light on domestication events. In the face of major future environmental challenges, integrating paleogenomics with modern breeding strategies emerges as a promising avenue to significantly ...
