Question about non-clinical setting patient interaction
Hello everyone, a club that I volunteer at fulfills the wishes of terminally ill patients, and I was wondering how that would be counted. So far, we have done a lot of house-cleaning for patients, with some other activities on the side (such as Christmas parties for them and their children). The house-cleaning experience was especially a very eye-opening experience, seeing individuals in such a difficult state and being able to help them was very rewarding, and I ended up being in charge of... SO wants Pathology
We have questions regarding away rotations. Should he apply for an away at his legacy school? Is march-april the time to get in the visiting students applications in? It is also his home-state and close to grandparents (we have 2 kids, my oldest is 2 and autistic). There is also another program he’s interested in at the same state (CA). He worked in a path lab for 3 years before going to medical school and is pretty sure he wants this. We are a bilingual family and would love both our... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Psych or Neuro Clinical Experience
Hello. I want to ask about any psychiatric or neuro based clinical experience. Ideally, I would like to work as a staff at a psychiatric facility. However, I am only 5ft tall and 90 pounds and am afraid of severely hurt (permanent bodily damage) by patients. What would be some places to work at? Also, I literally look like a 13 year old even though I am 20 if that contributes to anything Patient care tech, behavioral health facility for kids, idk. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Termination in Private Practice
Curious to hear termination policies people have in place working in outpatient private practice. In particular, what are folks doing for folks that don’t reach out for many months and/or for folks with chronic illness, young children, or abnormal schedules? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

If you child fast track do you get a diploma from both institutions
Might be a silly semantics question but I also can't find the answer to this. If I go to institution X for 3 years and then fast track to child, do you get a graduate diploma from X and Y or only Y? I'm assuming it's the former since you went there for 3 years, but am not sure if you needed all 4 years to be considered a true graduate from a psychiatry program. Thank you. Applying to internship with a school-age child(ren) - partner won't move
Has anyone navigated this situation before? I live in Los Angeles and am worried about having to move out of state in order to match. My co-parent/ex-partner is not receptive to leaving LA, and honestly, I don't want to uproot my son's life for only a year. I welcome your wisdom, hope, and strength. 🙏 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I'm thinking about working as a rural nocturnist for 3 years after residency to maximize my income and invest heavily. Is this realistic?
Here's my situation: I'm an IMG from Europe on a J1 visa. I started an IM residency at the age of 32 and will finish it at 35. Although I'm a bit older, I have a low amount of student debt (~$40,000). Single, no wife, no kids (although it's something I want in the long-term). I don't want to return to my home country for two years, so I have been thinking about getting a J1-waiver job in an underserved region for 3 years to get a green card. I have been looking at some of these jobs, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Just a first post and accepting all advice
Good evening, everyone! I see a lot of posts like "what are my chances?" or "should I do postbacc?" and whatnot. I just wanted to put my hat in and do the same. So, I'm 34 years old. I've always wanted to be an emergency medicine physician since I was a small child, and I've recently talked with my wife about this again and decided to full commit to actually pursuing the dream. The aim currently would be to finish as much as possible with volunteering, MCAT, shadowing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Take Care of Maya Trial
‘Take Care of Maya’: Jury find Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital liable, awards damages in over $200M case After eight weeks of arguments and testimony, jurors have reached a verdict in the $220 million case against Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital that was the premise of the Netflix documentary ‘Take Care of Maya.’ www.fox13news.com This verdict is really out of hand, IMO. Almost $300MM considering the facts of the case (and that the trial judge disallowed any evidence of medical child abuse). (Source: Student Doctor Network)
