Hospitals where PICU attendings care for congenital heart disease?
Does anyone have examples of academic hospitals where PICU attendings [who did not undergo further training in CVICU or cardiology] care for at least a moderate volume of kids with congenital heart disease (from just overnight coverage, to actually rounding and being the ICU attending for them), including single ventricles, cardiac ECMO, or heart transplants? Is this structure more common in mixed units, or in places where the pediatric cardiac ICU is more under the umbrella of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contact for activity
I did some volunteering through a school club tutoring hard of hearing children via zoom, but I'm not sure who to put as the contact for my work/activities section. Would I put the president of the club? He's graduated now and I'm not sure if I can get ahold of him, but I didn't do the volunteering directly through the tutoring program so I don't think i'd be able to put them as my contact either? Neuropsych Testing
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in NYS as well as a school psychologist with over 10 years of child assessment experience. I was recently contacted by an assessment agency who offered me a fee to conduct a neuropsychological evaluation on a child suspected of a learning disability. Am I not allowed to do this because I am not a board approved neuropsych? Nor am I under the supervision of one. I don’t have additional post-doc specializations but have administered many tests typically... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Summer Job Question
Hi y'all! I'm trying to decide what I should do this summer to best improve my future application. I'll be going into my junior year next year. During the school year I do research and last summer I volunteered at a hospital. I have a couple options now. 1. I was offered a job at a food bank to work on their kids program. The only real con about this job is it starts very early in the morning and is far away from my house. 2. I have an interview coming up for a camp counselor job for kids... Are kids normally super angry after procedural sedations
I’ve done so many procedural sedations in my career and don’t remember kids being super angry when they come out of sedation. My own kiddo had a procedure and came out super angry. So is this normal? Do I just miss it since I don’t usually come back to check on patients after the procedure is done? And any tips to make them less angry when they come out of it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-Clinical Volunteering Question
How important is non-clinical volunteering? I’m 27, I have two kids and I work two jobs. I have about 20 hours total right now for non-clinical. One of my jobs is a Home Health Aide and I’ve accumulated around 7,000 paid clinical hours, with more coming. I am an assistant coach for my son’s baseball team and that is a volunteer position, would that count as non-clinical volunteer hours? I’m just worried about finding the time to get tons of volunteer hours before I graduate when my schedule... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much of a disadvantage is clinical training at a regional campus?
I made a post on Help Me Decide but didn't get any responses, presumably because no one knows anything about the GW Regional Medical Campus lol. But I am desperate for advice because I need to make a decision ASAP so I can enroll my kid in daycare etc. I was accepted to both the George Washington Regional Medical Campus and Tulane. I prefer GW in pretty much every way, but especially because I have a spouse and child and really don't want to drag them to New Orleans. (I am not a fan of the... Whose heads are you scanning?
Was wondering if my practice matches others; single coverage community so don't get a lot of feedback kids = PECARN severe mechanism, worrisome story or exam = scan any age anticoagulated = scan (usually even if not headstrike) 65 or over with headstrike = scan Most curious about whether others scan anti coagulated or >65 falls with NO headstrike?
