Facial Recognition Pattern before and after Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty: An Eye Tracking Analysis
This study investigated eye movement patterns using eye tracking technology when looking at preoperative and postoperative images of patients that underwent bilateral periorbital cosmetic surgery. The sequence of facial recognition before surgery was periorbital-nose-perioral, whereas following surgery it was nose-periorbital-perioral. This study revealed that the sequence of facial feature recognition is influenced by the aesthetic liking of the observer and that alteration to facial features influences the sequence of facial feature recognition. The eye movement pattern, however, seems to follow the internal representati...

Surgical Treatment of Proptosis due to High-axial Myopia During Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty in Identical Twins
We present twin sisters who presented for a lower eyelid blepharoplasty evaluation; each sister had unilateral proptosis with high-axial myopia. Both underwent bilateral lower eyelid blepharoplasty and unilateral fat decompression in the proptotic eye. One sister required additional medial wall bony decompression to resolve the proptosis at the time of the aforementioned surgery. Therefore, it is important to consider globe position and degree of proptosis at the time of lower eyelid blepharoplasty surgery to optimize surgical results. Acute Onset Endophthalmitis Following Bilateral Upper and Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Ophthalmic Plast Reconstr Surg. 2022 Apr 25. doi: 10.1097/IOP.0000000000002176. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 59-year-old woman presented with iritis and uveitis in the OD approximately 3 weeks after she underwent a bilateral upper and lower blepharoplasty by an outside oculoplastic specialist. Examination revealed a visual acuity of hand motion in the OD, scleral ulceration suspicious for prior globe perforation, dense vitritis, and loculations and membranes on echography. The patient was diagnosed with acute onset exogenous endophthalmitis. Vitreous aspiration and intravitreal injection of vancomycin and ceftazidime we...

Double Eyelid Shape Preference: A Large Sample Survey
ConclusionsIn-fold was the most preferred double eyelid shape, especially for patients who met one or more of the following criteria: male, older than 40, divorced, or housewives. However, heavy makeup wearers or actors/actresses tend to prefer out-fold double eyelids. The “in-fold,” “on-fold,” and “out-fold” classification was precise and beneficial to doctor–patient communication.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Public perception of "laser-assisted" blepharoplasty versus "blade-assisted" blepharoplasty
CONCLUSION: Elucidating patient perceptions and preferences for blade- versus laser-based blepharoplasty provides surgeons with perspective on how to tailor preoperative counselling. Before and after the intervention, participants had a bias toward choosing laser blepharoplasty. The intervention seems to falsely convince people that laser blepharoplasty leads to better outcomes. Because the doctor's advice can greatly impact patients' decisions, physicians have to be careful not to give false expectations when counselling patients. Inaccurate recall of key educational takeaways suggests that information should be vulgarize...
