Clinical Assessment for Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty with Attention on Negative Prognostic Indicators
Facial Plast Surg 2023; 39: 002-007 DOI: 10.1055/s-0042-1760111In the present report, a comprehensive approach on the assessment of the lower eyelid for blepharoplasty is provided. Important items such as anatomical key areas and surgical factors are discussed. Proper management of lower eyelid deformities requires an understanding of both intrinsic and extrinsic anatomical factors resulting in the unfavorable outcome. Transconjunctival Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty with Volume Augmentation for Correction of the Lower Eyelid and Cheek Junction
Facial Plast Surg 2023; 39: 020-027 DOI: 10.1055/s-0042-1760114Aesthetic surgical management of the inferior periorbital region should include an approach to volume augmentation of the midface and infraorbital hollow, reduction of fat pseudoherniation in the lower eyelids, and treatment of the overlying skin. A combined approach using volume augmentation with fat grafting, a transconjunctival approach to the lower eyelid fat pads, and conservative management of the lower eyelid skin can produce optimal aesthetic results while minimizing complications. Fat harvest from the thigh and abdominal region allows for ample graftin...

The effect of bevacizumab, 5-fluorouracil, and triamcinolone on the healing modulation of surgical wounds in rats
In this study, we aimed to analyze the effect of 5-fluorouracil, triamcinolone, and bevacizumab on scar modulation in an experimental rat model of surgical lesions. Rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus) were divided into four groups: bevacizumab, 5-fluorouracil + triamcinolone, bevacizumab + 5-fluorouracil + triamcinolone, and control (received no medication) groups. A linear, dorsal incision was created and sutured for the first intention wound healing, mimicking the surgical incision of upper blepharoplasty. Treatments were initiated on day 7, and the rats were euthanized on day 14. Only in the 5-fluorouracil + triamcinolone ...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 1559: Effects of Upper Blepharoplasty Techniques on Headaches, Eyebrow Position, and Electromyographic Outcomes: A Randomized Controlled Trial
r H. Schepers The aim of this study was to assess changes in headaches, eyebrow height, and electromyographic (EMG) outcomes of the frontalis and orbicularis oculi muscles, after an upper blepharoplasty with or without resecting a strip of orbicularis oculi muscle. In a randomized controlled trial, 54 patients received an upper blepharoplasty involving either only removing skin (group A) or removing skin with an additional strip of orbicularis muscle (group B). Preoperative, and 6 and 12 months postoperative headache complaints were assessed using the HIT-6 scores and eyebrow heights were measured on standardised photo...

Lower Eyelid Transcutaneous Blepharoplasty, Minimizing Complications and Correction of Lower Eyelid Malposition
Facial Plast Surg DOI: 10.1055/a-1973-7656The periocular area is one of the first and most noticeable areas affected by ageing. Common signs of lower lid ageing include rhytids, prominent eye bags caused by prolapse of orbital fat pads, increased lid laxity leading to lid malpositioning, and deepening of tear troughs, all of which give a sunken aged appearance. Lower lid transcutaneous blepharoplasty can correct most of these problems providing excellent long-term aesthetic outcomes with minimal downtime for the patient. However, lower eyelid anatomy is complex, and a thorough understanding of its structure and function is...
