Changing Abdominal Imaging Utilization Patterns: Perspectives from Medicare Beneficiaries Over Two Decades
Conclusions Medicare utilization of abdominal imaging has markedly changed over the past two decades, with overall dramatic increases in CT and MRI and dramatic decreases in gastrointestinal fluoroscopic and urologic radiographic imaging. Despite these changes, radiologists remain the dominant providers in all abdominal imaging modalities. (Source: Journal of the American College of Radiology)

MR findings of Lynch syndrome-related uterine endometrial carcinoma: a case report
Abstract A 41-year-old woman presented with atypical genital bleeding. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a polypoid mass from the lower uterine segment to cervical canal, approximately 32 mm in size. Additionally, a thickened sigmoid colon wall showing a markedly high signal intensity on diffusion-weighted imaging was observed. Barium enema and colonoscopy revealed a type I sigmoid colon cancer. Since this patient was relatively young and had multiple relatives with colon cancer, Lynch syndrome was suspected and proved by an immunohistochemical survey. Uterine endometrial carcinoma related to Lynch...

Does radiography advanced practice improve patient outcomes and health service quality? A systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS: Radiographer advanced practice is an established activity both in the UK and internationally. However, evidence of the impact of advanced practice in terms of patient outcomes and service quality is limited. Advances in knowledge: This systematic review is the first to examine the evidence base surrounding advanced radiography practice and its impact on patient outcomes and health service quality. Value of 24-hour Delayed Film of Barium Enema for Evaluation of Colon Transit Function in Young Children with Constipation.
Conclusions: Although the correlation between BE and CTTRM was not very strong, the 24 hour delayed BE film could provide broad information about colon transit function in young children, especially those under 4 years who usually cannot undergo CTTRM. CT Colonography: an update on current and future indications.
Authors: Laghi A Abstract Computed tomographic colonography (CTC) is a minimally invasive, patient-friendly, safe and robust colonic imaging modality. The technique is standardized and consolidated evidence from the literature shows that the diagnostic performances for the detection of colorectal cancer and large polyps are similar to colonoscopy (CS) and largely superior to alternative radiological exams, like barium enema. A clear understanding of the exact role of CTC will be beneficial to maximize the benefits and minimize the potential sources of frustration or disappointment for both referring clinic...

Results of posterior myectomy for the treatment of children with chronic constipation
Conclusion - Fecal consistency, feces diameter, number of bowel movements, and straining for defecation were improved after posterior myectomy. Another study with more sample is required for better evaluation of treatment.

Alternatives to colonoscopy for population-wide colorectal cancer screening.
Abstract Colorectal cancer is one of the top three cancers in the world in terms of incidence. Colonoscopy, which many regard as the gold standard in diagnosis of colonic polyps and neoplasm, is costly, invasive, and labour-intensive, and deemed an unsuitable population-wide index screening tool. Alternative modalities, including guaiac and immunohistochemical faecal occult blood tests, computed tomographic colonography, colon capsule endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and double-contrast barium enema are available. The procedures, test characteristics, and their implications are reviewed. Immunohistochemi...

The regional center for complex colonoscopy: yield of neoplasia in patients with prior incomplete colonoscopy
Incomplete colonoscopy increases the risk of incident proximal colon cancer post colonoscopy. Incomplete colonoscopy is often followed by barium enema or CT colonography. We sought to describe the yield of completion colonoscopy in a regional center for complex colonoscopy. (Source: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy)

Gastrojejunocolic Fistula after Gastrojejunostomy in Ayder referral hospital Northern Ethiopia: a report of two cases
Conclusion As it is rare phenomenon, high clinical suspicion is very important in the diagnosis of GJCF on patients who manifest with chronic diarrhea, vomiting of fecal matter, abdominal pain and features of malnutrition. Careful preoperative preparation is mandatory before any type of surgical procedure is carried out. Pre-operative nutritional status should be evaluated in patients undergoing corrective surgery. Adequate resection of the stomach after Gastrojejunostomy and complete vagotomy is important to prevention development of GJCF. (Source: Annals of Medicine and Surgery)

Recent Trends in Colonic Diverticulosis in Yokohama City: A Possibility of Changing to a More Western Profile.
Conclusion The clinical features of colon diverticulosis in the patients living in Yokohama may be changing to reflect a more Western type, in particular decreased right-side dominance, increases in the left-side and both-sides dominant patients, and the emergence of patients with crowded diverticula in the left-side colon was observed.
