The “filling defect”: an appropriate radiological term or a fluoroscopic hangover?
Sir —The term “filling defect” is commonly used to imply or indicate the presence of a soft-tissue mass, tumour, thrombus, stone, artefact, foreign body, or other structure by indirect means. This is usually in the context of contrast fluoroscopic studies, such as the double-contrast barium enema examination,1 catheter pulmonary angiography,2 peripheral arterial angiography (Fig 1a), lower-limb venography,3 or intravenous urography.4 (Source: Clinical Radiology)

Preservation of superior rectal artery in laparoscopically assisted subtotal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis for slow transit constipation
CONCLUSION: Laparoscopically assisted subtotal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis and preservation of the SRA can significantly improve bowel function with careful patient selection. Sparing the SRA may protect against anastomosis leakage.PMID:34168413 | PMC:PMC8192293 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v27.i22.3121 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)
