Utilization of dapsone and hemoglobin in the epithelial skin regeneration therapy of cutaneous loxoscelism: A case report and integrative literature review
CONCLUSIONS: The administration of dapsone and heparin for the management of cutaneous loxoscelism demonstrated success in this case, with no sequelae observed. In general, the literature review indicated favorable outcomes in patients treated with antimicrobials and corticosteroids, with continuous healing of skin lesions.SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: PROSPERO ID CRD42023422424 (https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?ID=CRD42023422424).PMID:38422241 | PMC:PMC10885633 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2023.0151.04012023 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)

Fabrication and characterization of a Bi < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 3 < /sub > -modified chitosan@ZIF-8 nanocomposite for enhanced drug loading-releasing efficacy
In this study, a simple novel hybrid mesoporous nanomaterial derived from a metal-organic framework (ZIF-8) and chitosan, which were coated on green bismuth oxide, has been successfully synthesized, characterized, and applied to investigate its dapsone loading-releasing capability in the aqueous media. This suggested nanocomposite showed promise for drug loading from water b using hydrogen bonds, pi-pi, and electrostatic interactions. Structural and morphological analyses were performed on the proposed green synthesized nanocomposite through scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectr...

Case Report: Borderline Lepromatous Leprosy Therapy Complicated by Type 1 Leprosy Reaction and Adverse Reactions with Dapsone and Clofazimine
Am J Trop Med Hyg. 2024 Jan 23:tpmd220637. doi: 10.4269/ajtmh.22-0637. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLeprosy is a global health issue, causing long-term functional morbidity and stigma. Rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important; however, early diagnosis is often challenging, especially in nonendemic areas. Here, we report a case of borderline lepromatous leprosy accompanied by dapsone-induced (neutropenia, anemia, and methemoglobinemia) and clofazimine-induced (skin discoloration and ichthyosis) side effects and type 1 leprosy reactions during administration of the multidrug therapy. The patient completely re...

Linear IgA bullous dermatosis associated with immunotherapy
We present the case of a 67-year-old woman with metastatic ovarian cancer receiving anti-PD1 and anti-CTLA4 with new onset pruritic tense bullae to the trunk, hands, elbows (in annular distribution) that occurred after immunotherapy. Skin biopsy showed subepidermal blister with abundant neutrophils on H&E histology, and linear IgA staining at the basement membrane on direct immunofluorescence consistent with the diagnosis of LABD. The condition did not improve on initial prednisone taper, but blisters rapidly resolved a few days after initiation of dapsone... (Source: Dermatology Online Journal)
