Cleft Palate Repair: A New Maxillary Nerve Block Approach
Conclusions: Bilateral regional MNB, under direct vision trough the spheno palatine holes results an effective, easy, and safe method for pain relief during and after primary cleft palate repair surgeries. The combination of slight general anesthesia with local anesthesia and regional blocks, results a good option to reduce opioids utilization, to prevent neurotoxicity, respiratory depression, sickness, and vomiting facilitating early feeding and patient discharge.
We describe the most highly recommended generic and disease-specific PRO tools in SCD and discuss the challenges of incorporating them in clinical practice. EXPERT OPINION: PRO measures are essential to incorporate into SCD clinical trials either as primary or secondary outcomes. The use of PRO measures in SCD facilitates a patient-centered approach, which is likely to lead to improved outcomes. Significant challenges remain in adapting PRO tools to routine clinical use and in developing countries. PMID: 33034214 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Currently in fellowship doing bread/butter procedures (MBB, epidurals, PNB, few SCS/PNS trials, etc.) and just interviewed at a private practice spot where they do a lot of procedures that I will have not done any training in prior to graduating (e.g. IT pump, SI fusion, Vertiflex, Kypho, MILD, Discectomy, lots of SCS/PNS trials etc) and significant amount of "OR pain procedures" at a very busy practice seeing 30-40 pts/day - how many of you are commonly performing these procedures and are... private practice concern
Conclusions: The study ’s findings support the efficacy of tube weaning based on the published “Graz model of tube weaning” for children born with EA/TEF and indicate the necessity of specialized tube weaning programs for these patients. What is Known:• Children with esophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula often suffer from feeding problems and tube dependency.• Different tube weaning programs and outcomes have been published, but not specifically for children with EA.What is New:• Evaluation of a large sample of children referred for tube weaning after EA repair.• Most children wi...
In this study, an attempt to oxidise the surface of a commercial activated carbon to improve its adsorption capacity for sevoflurane was conducted using 6 mol/L nitric acid, 2 mol/L ammonium persulfate, and 30 wt per cent (wt%) of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The adsorption tests at fixed conditions (bed depth: 10 cm, inlet concentration: 528 mg/L, and flow rate: 3 L/min) revealed that H2O2 oxidation gave desirable sevoflurane adsorption (0.510 ± 0.005 mg/m2). A parametric study was conducted with H2O2 to investigate the effect of oxidation conditions to the changes in surfa...

Conclusion: Microneedling therapy can be considered as an effective modality of treatment for facial scars in patients with an added advantage of minimal downtime and effective improvement. It is simple and cost-effective technique in the treatment of facial scars.
Conclusion: USG-guided TNB reduces perioperative opioid consumption in patients undergoing faciomaxillary surgery with better patient pain scores.
CONCLUSIONS: Levobupivacaine is as effective and safe as bupivacaine to be used for MNB block with a lower incidence of complications. Bilateral suprazygomatic MNB is an effective, easy, and safe method for pain relief in children undergoing primary cleft palate repair surgeries. PMID: 29619786 [PubMed]
