The cross ‐talk between Abl2 tyrosine kinase and TGFβ1 signalling modulates the invasion of clear cell Renal Cell Carcinoma cells
Our data show that the axis TGF β1/Abl2 plays an important role in the invasion of clear cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (ccRCC) cells, a key aspect of the metastatic disease, through invadopodia formation. These findings suggest that the inhibition of Abl2 can counteract the invasive process and can be a promising strategy against ccR CC. Clear cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common and metastatic urological cancer. Molecular players of ccRCC progression and metastasis are not completely known. Here, using primary cell cultures from patients' specimens, we found that TGF β1/Smad signalling is more activated in h...

Development of one-step multiplex RT-PCR assay for rapid simultaneous detection of five RNA viruses and Acidovorax citrulli in major cucurbitaceous crops in China
Arch Microbiol. 2022 Nov 9;204(12):696. doi: 10.1007/s00203-022-03304-y.ABSTRACTCucurbitaceous fruits and vegetables are important crops. Viral and bacterial diseases cause substantial economic losses to cucurbit crops globally. For rapid detection of these pathogens and improved disease control, a one-step multiplex reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (mRT-PCR) system was created. This method allowed for the concurrent detection of Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV), Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), and Acidovor...

Construction of an infectious full-length cDNA clone of a recombinant isolate of cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus from Brazil
Abstract In Brazil, the main viral disease of melon plant is severe yellowing disease called “Amarelão do Meloeiro,” and a polerovirus, cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus (CABYV) was considered one of the etiological agents. This virus is a recombinant strain originated from CABYV and unknown polerovirus. Due to unsuccessful mechanical inoculations of CABYV to host plants, the study of its biological characterization is hampered. Therefore, an infectious clone of the recombinant strain of CABYV was constructed using the Gibson Assembly technology. The full-length cDNA clones produced in this study showed to be infe...

Evolution of cucurbit-infecting tobamoviruses: recombination and codon usage bias
Virus Res. 2022 Oct 20:198970. doi: 10.1016/j.virusres.2022.198970. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCurrently, there are seven cucurbit-infecting tobamoviruses comprising cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), Kyuri green mottle mosaic virus (KGMMV), cucumber fruit mottle mosaic virus (CFMMV), zucchini green mottle mosaic virus (ZGMMV), cucumber mottle virus (CMoV), watermelon green mottle mosaic virus (WGMMV), and Trichosanthes mottle mosaic virus (TrMMV). To gain more insights into their evolution, recombination analyses were conducted. Four CGMMV isolates and one KGMMV isolate were suggested to be recombinants. And t...

High molecular diversity of full-length genome sequences of zucchini yellow fleck virus from Europe
AbstractZucchini yellow fleck virus (ZYFV), genusPotyvirus, is the causal agent of a disease of cucurbits. The genome sequences of seven ZYFV isolates of different origin were determined, two of which were reconstructed from a squash (Cucurbita sp.) collected in 2017 in Greece, while the others, accessions from the DSMZ Plant Virus Collection, were from samples collected in Italy, Greece, and France in the 1980s and 1990s. A high level of molecular diversity, well dispersed along the genome, was observed, but this was within the limits for assignment of the virus isolates to the same species. P1 was the most diverse gene, ...

The Effects of Electric Field and Ultrasound Pretreatments on the Drying Time and Physicochemical Characteristics of the Zucchini Chips
An Acad Bras Cienc. 2022 Aug 15;94(3):e20210349. doi: 10.1590/0001-3765202220210349. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to investigate the effects of electrical pretreatment (40V, 60 sec) and ultrasound blanching (35kHz, 80°C, 2 min) on the drying time, texture, color, and rehydration properties of zucchini which were dried by hot air and freeze dryers to 8% moisture content (wet basis). The synergistic effect of electrical and ultrasonical applications reduced the drying time (36%) to reach the target moisture content in hot air drying and provided fracturable, chewy, and edible hard zucchini chips.
