Green synthesis of zinc and nickel dual-doped cerium oxide nanoparticles: antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity effects
Bioprocess Biosyst Eng. 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1007/s00449-023-02920-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2-NPs) and Zn-Ni dual-doped CeO2-NPs were synthesized through a green approach by the implication of zucchini peel (Cucurbita pepo) extract as a capping and reduction agent. All the synthesized samples were studied by the results of FTIR, UV-Vis, XRD, and FESEM/EDAX/PSA analyses. The Zn-Ni dual-doped CeO2-NPs contained a spherical morphology and their size was observed to increase at higher temperatures. The conducted MTT assay on the Huh-7 cell line displayed 50% of cells annihilation as a res...

Efficient artificial microRNA-mediated resistance against zucchini yellow mosaic virus in zucchini via agroinfiltration
J Virol Methods. 2023 Sep 4:114805. doi: 10.1016/j.jviromet.2023.114805. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTZucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) infects cucurbits causing yellow mosaic in leaves, malformations in fruits, and degradation of the product quality. RNA interference (RNAi) is a cellular mechanism in eukaryotes and it is exploited to protect them against viruses. The artificial micro RNA (amiRNA) mediated approach was employed to develop resistance against ZYMV. Four amiRNAs, amiZYMV_HC-115s and amiZYMV_HC-1162s (sense), amiZYMV_HC-182as and amiZYMV_HC-196as (antisense), were computationally designed and introduced int...

Satisfaction With Continuous Glucose Monitoring is Positively Correlated With Time in Range in Children With Type 1 Diabetes
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has had a positive impact on blood glucose control, improving HbA1c levels and time in range (TIR, 70 -180 mg/dl) and limiting glucose variability and number of hypoglycemic episodes [1]. This positive effect is strictly associated with glucose sensor use for at least 60% of the time [2]. Similarly, combining CGM systems with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) reduces HbA1c and increases TIR without detrimental effects on the number of hypoglycemic events when compared with multiple daily injections (MDI) with self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) or the use of CSII alone ...
