Role of microRNAs in glycolysis in gynecological tumors (Review)
Int J Oncol. 2023 May;62(5):63. doi: 10.3892/ijo.2023.5511. Epub 2023 Apr 13.ABSTRACTGynecological malignancies are a leading cause of mortality among females worldwide, and difficulties in early diagnosis and acquired drug resistance constitute obstacles to effective therapies. Ovarian cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. Specifically, in females aged 20 to 39 years, cervical cancer is the third leading cause of cancer‑related mortality, and the incidence rates of cervical adenocarcinoma are increasing. Endometrial carcinoma is the most common gynecological cancer in develop...

Inguinal nodal clinical target volume delineation based on analysis of anatomical locations of normal and metastatic lymph nodes in pelvic malignant tumors
CONCLUSIONS: This study provided anatomical, embryonic, surgical, and statistical evidence to facilitate ILN CTV delineation in radiotherapy planning for patients with pelvic malignancies.PMID:36963443 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2023.109634 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)

Assessment and Reporting of Perioperative Adverse Events and Complications in Patients Undergoing Inguinal Lymphadenectomy for Melanoma, Vulvar Cancer, and Penile Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionILND performed in melanoma, penile, and vulvar cancer patients is a morbid procedure. The quality of the AEs reporting is suboptimal. A more standardized AEs reporting system is needed to produce comparable data across studies for furthering the development of strategies to decrease AEs. (Source: World Journal of Surgery)

Comorbidity of Urogynecological and Gastrointestinal Disorders in Female Patients With Lichen Sclerosus
CONCLUSIONS: We found that female patients with LS have an increased risk for gynecological cancers as well as for several urogynecological and gastrointestinal disorders. Increased awareness is required to identify and treat these concomitant disorders.PMID:36821789 | DOI:10.1097/LGT.0000000000000727 (Source: Cancer Control)

Electrochemotherapy with intravenous bleomycin for heavily pre-treated vulvar cancer patients
CONCLUSION: Long-term follow-up of vulvar cancer patients showed reasonable tumor control after electrochemotherapy and improved progression-free survival and overall survival in responder subjects compared with non-responders. Further studies aimed at improving local response after electrochemotherapy are warranted. Thus, this approach represents a potential alternative for these patients.PMID:36787933 | DOI:10.1136/ijgc-2022-004127 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 1121: Evaluating the Risk of Inguinal Lymph Node Metastases before Surgery Using the Morphonode Predictive Model: A Prospective Diagnostic Study in Vulvar Cancer Patients
Giorgia Garganese Ultrasound examination is an accurate method in the preoperative evaluation of the inguinofemoral lymph nodes when performed by experienced operators. The purpose of the study was to build a robust, multi-modular model based on machine learning to discriminate between metastatic and non-metastatic inguinal lymph nodes in patients with vulvar cancer. One hundred and twenty-seven women were selected at our center from March 2017 to April 2020, and 237 inguinal regions were analyzed (75 were metastatic and 162 were non-metastatic at histology). Ultrasound was performed before surgery by experienced ex...

Impact of racial disparities on potential years of life lost due to gynecologic cancer in the United States: Trends from 1975 to 2017 based on SEER database
CONCLUSION: Ours is the first study to analyze PYLL in gynecologic malignancies and estimate productivity losses due to premature deaths. Data shows a clear trend pointing towards racial and ethnic disparities.PMID:36738485 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.01.032 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)
