ACOM vs WCUCOM
Just got off the waitlist at ACOM last minute. I am interested in EM or Pulm but this could change obviously. ACOM Pros: Better rotations/rotation sites seems like Better pass rates for COMLEX Seems to match people into prestigious specialties (last year 2 urology, 3 gas, 11 gen surgery, etc) Lower attrition rate (Seems like about 92% of people start end up finishing and matching) Cons: 56k a year for tuition A-F grading system WCUCOM Pros: 46k a year for tuition Had a 100%... Not prepared enough for peds fellowship?
I had my second peds anesthesia rotation recently (3 more to go). I really enjoyed it but our site is not very large - so only a few more major cases involving bowel resection, peeling kidneys off major vessels, and neuro case in neonate. A fellowship in peds seems appealing to me - but my prior paediatrics exposure is low. Clerkship was all outpatient and not much of it (no picu or nicu). My residency has been 2 weeks peds ER and then just Peds anesthesia. I just worry that my baseline... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Decipher ADT
How are you guys using decipher for favorable intermediate risk patients? I’ve seen a few of these recently with PSA 4-5 and a single core GGG2 where the urologist did decipher testing and it comes back 0.5-0.7 and they want to give ADT. Curious what other folks are doing. From Urology to Plastics
Hai Ther’, I am a U.S. citizen (hence, no need for a visa) who was born and raised in Belgium. There, I attended medical school, but I have yet to begin my residency. I recently graduated and am currently doing a multi-year long research postdoc at a top-10 university on the East Coast in the US, in urology. I am fully aware that securing a spot in a urology residency program is no easy task. However, I am fortunate to have 'big name' U.S. urology advisors backing me who are willing to... Bladder case
I have an 83-year-old patient with high grade urothelial ca sent from the VA. He had a TURBT and bilateral neph tubes placed there. Multiple co-morbidities. He was told he is not a candidate for surgery and sent to me. I ordered an MRI which showed extensive disease along the posterior wall, extra vesicular invasion of the prostate and bilateral ureters. There is also a 1.2 cm right external iliac lymph node. My local urologist agreed with the VA in that he cannot do any more TURBT as its... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
