Change in IPSS w Hydrogel
We have our urologists place the hydrogel and fiducials, they have been doing it for many years and have done a great job. Recently have had some issues. Urologist and rep came down to talk to me couple weeks ago after one placement on a patient that was a very good SBRT candidate with IPSS of 4 when I spoke with him. they were concerned the hydrogel went subcapsular into the prostate bc they met a lot of resistance but werent certain, when they looked with ultrasound they ultimately didn’t... Prostate cancer practice
Pretty self-explanatory. Do you think you can survive in the community with just Prostate Cancer? If not, what about if you add bladder and kidney? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PsyD vs. medical school?
I’m torn between whether to pursue medical school or a PsyD. I feel like I have a lot of conflicting things to consider. Has anyone ever navigated a similar question? How did you decide? My thought process: I absolutely love clinical work. I despise research and find it monotonous. I primarily want to work with clients/patients. Psychology is my primary passion. I also love medicine. I could learn about various medical topics, from neurology to urology, all day long. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Research options after fellowship
I am currently in my last few months of my IM residency training. I matched into a Nephrology/critical care care fellowship training. I plan on doing Nephrology research work after graduating from fellowship but I would like to keep my critical care to be my primary bread winner option. In Critical care there is an option of 7day on and 7 day off kind of work. I don't want to waste away the time I have. I would rather want to spend in Nephrology or critical care research during that time... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nephrology fellowship after 17 years of hospitalist work ?
I have been a hospitalist ( nocturnist) for 17 years ( nocturnist for last 9) My pay hasn’t increased in about 7 years. I work 10 nights in a month. 14 hour night shift each, so essentially one night is equal to one and half days ! I do get to spend a lot of time at home with my kids, something I greatly cherish . Now I have been thinking of applying . There are some positions unfilled in the area. First I am not sure if they will take me being so old. Second, not sure if it’s financially... Help with rank list, please!
Hello, I have been very fortunate to get interviews at a lot of good programs. I am struggling though with ranking the following ones: Cedars-Sinai UC Davis USC UCI Loma Linda U Colorado OHSU They are listed in no particular order. As of now, after graduation I would like to do 1-2 fellowships (cardiac+peds, or cardiac+liver, crit care+cardiac or other combos). I am sure it may change in the future but I need to make a rank list based on today's info. The plan at the end would be to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC/School List (3.79 cGPA, 517 MCAT)
Hi everyone! I am a junior hoping to apply this cycle. I want to go into primary care (family med with an interest in liver disease) or GI. I would appreciate any feedback on things I need to improve or what schools I should consider. I have extensive research experience, but am not limiting myself to research-focused schools unless that is what I will need to do. Subspecialty+Palliative Care in academic setting
Hi everyone, Just wondering if there's anyone who's board certified/eligible in both HPM and a subspecialty of some sort (or primary care/hospitalist) who's able to practice both in an academic setting? (i.e. someone who's boarded in Medical Oncology/Hematology/Nephrology/PCCM etc. and HPM who does a mix of both, or someone who does a week of hospitalist + 1 week of HPM, rinse and repeat.) Basic question: can a person practice both another specialty/their original primary specialty and HPM... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
