Treatment options and prognostic risk factors for urachal carcinoma: A multicetnter retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: EPC or RC provides similar oncologic results for UC, but bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection is not necessary in early-stage patients. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy can significantly reduce the recurrence rate, and combination therapy may provide better survival outcomes. CA724 can predict tumor recurrence or metastasis at an early stage.PMID:36283930 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2022.09.017 (Source: Urologic Oncology)

Detailed cadaveric analysis of perivesical lymph nodes in cystectomy specimens
CONCLUSION: This cadaveric study with meticulous dissection of the perivesical space confirms that perivesical lymph nodes are a distinct entity and separate from other lymph nodes in the true pelvis. Perivesical lymph nodes are not present in all subjects and pathologic evaluation is more difficult owing to the surrounding fat. We herein propose perivesical regions for evaluation which can serve as a foundation for future studies and anatomic grossing techniques.PMID:36245202 (Source: Canadian Journal of Urology)

Current management of the urachal anomalies (UA). Lessons learned from the clinical practice
ConclusionsOur data show that most of the patients with UA presented with epithelial lining, which might lead to the later malignant transformation. It might cause a shift from the conservative management of asymptomatic patients to surgical intervention. Robotic-assisted surgery appears beneficial in these patients, especially when the bladder cuff excision is required. (Source: Pediatric Surgery International)

Comprehensive Landscape of Cyclin Pathway Gene Alterations and Co-occurrence with FGF/FGFR Aberrations Across Urinary Tract Tumors
CONCLUSIONS: Cyclin pathway activating alterations are common in urinary tract tumors, but frequency varies with histology and tumors sites. Co-occurrence of cyclin and FGFR pathway alterations may inform therapeutic opportunities.PMID:36082904 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyac180 (Source: The Oncologist)

Urachal carcinoma: A novel staging system utilizing the National Cancer Database
ConclusionsThe proposed novel TNM staging system for UrC has a more balanced sample distribution and a more accurate stage-survival correlation than the traditional Mayo, Sheldon, and Ontario staging systems. It is clinically applicable and enables better risk stratification, prognosis, and therapeutic decision-making. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Prevalence of urachal remnants in children according to age and their anatomic variants
ConclusionsOur results suggest a recommendation of nonoperative management of asymptomatic urachal remnants, especially in patients less than 1  year of age due to its probable spontaneous resolution. Knowledge of the anatomic variants could improve the accuracy of diagnosis of urachal remnants and the comprehension of its structure and localization for the achievement of accurate and complete excision.
