Primary urachal leiomyosarcoma: a case report and literature review of clinical, pathological, and medical imaging features
ConclusionsBecause the leiomyosarcoma located in the extraperitoneal space of Retzius and may manifest with nonspecific abdominal or urinary symptoms, early and definitive preoperative diagnosis is challenging. Partial cystectomy with complete excision of the urachus is recommended. Because only a few patients have been recorded, clinical outcomes and recurrence risks are difficult to assess. Urachal xanthogranuloma: a rare but important case presenting as a urachal mass
A urachal mass is a relatively rare presentation to the urologists ’ practice, often requiring radical surgical excision for a definitive diagnosis. Xanthogranulomatous inflammation of the urachus is an extreme... (Source: BMC Urology)

Progress and prospect of targeted therapy and immunotherapy for urachal carcinoma
Urachal carcinoma (UrC) is a rare and aggressive disease. Systematic chemotherapy exhibited limited efficacy on patients with advanced disease, and targeted therapy and immunotherapy might provide reasonable alternative for specific population. This review aimed to comprehensively present the molecular profile of UrC and further identify the potential targets for the personalized treatment of UrC as well as the underlying biomarker of immune checkpoint inhibitors. A systematic literature search was carried out by searching the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science databases in February 2023 to identify all literature related to t...

Surgical management of benign noninfected urachal cysts in adult patients: two case reports
ConclusionManaging persistent and symptomatic urachal anomalies requires a wide surgical excision. Such intervention is recommended to prevent symptom recurrence and complications, most notably malignant degeneration. A laparoscopic approach offers excellent outcomes, and is recommended to treat these abnormalities. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Rectal prolapse secondary to a urachal abscess in an alpaca cria
Can Vet J. 2023 May;64(5):441-444.ABSTRACTA five-month-old alpaca cria presented with a history of abdominal pain, dysuria, and a recurring rectal prolapse. An ultrasonographic examination indicated a urachal abscess attached to the urinary bladder. The abscess was removed surgically, and the patient had an adequate recovery after the procedure and ancillary treatment. This case report highlights secondary complications that could arise following an infection of the urachus in new-world camelids. Key clinical message: Urachal abscess should be considered as a differential diagnosis in juvenile new-world camelids with recta...
