Wisconsin (full tuition) vs. UMich vs. Geisel (please help < 3)
I have thought so long and hard about this, and I am still so torn. If anyone has any advice or perspective, I would really appreciate the help! Wisconsin Pros Full tuition scholarship Close proximity to family More freedom to explore interests without fear of compiling debt Cons Ultimately want to end up on the east coast for residency (may be more challenging to match there) Challenging to visit partner (they are on the east coast attending medical... Going to optometry for routine checks?
Hope this doesn't get flagged as asking for medical advice. But my question is, how often should someone go to optometry to just get their comprehensively checked? Assuming they don't need glasses, and they're 20/20 at their annual PCP check, and have no other systemic disease that directly affect the eye, how often should they see an optometrist for a screening type check? Do you just ask for an eye check up appointment? And what kind of optometry clinics do this? Like do you need to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Disciplinary Hold
I graduated during January of 2024. I was notified that I had damaged the wall which was caused from accidentally hitting the wall while moving out around January (I moved out December). I was told I’d be contacted by the Office of Student Conduct, at which point I thought nothing of as it was an accident. Fast forward to April: I wanted to see how to request my transcript. I had received no communication at this point regarding my case. However, when I tried to request, it said I was placed... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC/Potential Reapplicant (3.88, 521) ORM, OH resident
Hi everyone! I applied this past '23-'24 cycle with 1 gap year (applied after my senior year). Ended up with with 3 II (NEOMED, Case, Feinberg) -> took myself off NEOMED WL for personal reasons so I'm waiting on the 2 - I'd rather reapply than go to NEOMED. While I wait to hear back, I plan on starting my re-app in about a week. Please let me know if I should start sooner. Additional hours since I applied are my FT research job + non-clinical volunteering, bolded and italicized below. Also... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Letters of Recommendation help
Hi, I’m making a school list and I’m seeing different schools require 2 science faculty letters while others ask for one. In your opinion, how strict are these rules/should I post on the specific schools subreddit? I have one letter from a science teacher, physician, and volunteer coordinator so I’m wondering is it even worth applying to these schools where I don’t meet the requirement for letters? Is there leniency? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

TW: ANTISEMITISM Noorda Com Worries Me Need advice
I'm trying to decide between 3 schools, waiting to hear back from 2 more. I am deciding between Noordacom, it is closer, I will be closer to family, LECOM, and NYITCOM. I also have some fam in NY. I visited noorda it is a nice school. I liked the people. They have research opportunities. I can look past the accreditation. They have financial limitations, but that will get resolved sooner compared to the first incoming class. I also have a scholarship coming up. Why I chose it? It's closer... Duke (160k) vs Kaiser
I am leaning towards Duke but interested in hearing thoughts and suggestions about this and I hope this thread can help someone in the future who is making a similar decision I am interested in matching into Neurosurgery and potentially being involved with academic medicine. Growing up, I have always dreamed of living in California because of the warm weather and abundance of outdoor activities, and I would much rather live in Pasadena than Durham. However, I am heavily enticed by the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Options for no nights, holidays or weekends
What options do emergency physicians have for gigs that are no nights, holidays or weekends? And 8-10 shifts per month? Does it exist? I'm thinking maybe a locums or part-time gig? Or telehealth? Maybe a medical consultant? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
