Acquiring an LOR from Foreign Language Professor?
Hello, Would it be a viable option to ask my foreign language professor to write a LOR for medical school, since some schools require a humanities/non-science faculty letter? My worry is that they may not know much about the medical school process to write a strong one. Any thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Old letters of recommendation issue - LOR expiry?
I went through my university's committee process last year, and they wrote me a letter that is dated 2023. Their letter packet includes letters from all my letter-writers, also all dated 2023. However, I am applying in 2025, and I understand that LORs >1 year old either expire or lose their value somehow? (Correct me if I'm wrong). My writers wrote letters based on great interactions I had with them well before (and since) 2023 anyways. In any case, I brought up this concern with my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Baylor vs UChicago (WL)
Hi everyone! Grateful to be in this position, but I would love some insight into people's thoughts into these schools and what they would choose. I'm a URM from Texas, but I went to school in California. Interested in pediatrics, OB/GYN, and anesthesiology. Also done a lot of research and extracurriculars in the health equity space, so I want to continue with that in medical school. I've grown up in Texas all my life, so I kind of want to try something different, but most of my support... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Soooo I interviewed at a school, then the next day the called me & told me to retake the mcat in May & they would hold off on voting on me until they get that new score. The next week, I received a WL email. Has anyone ever heard of schools asking applicants to do this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cervical MBB initial placement tip (posterior approach)?
Looking for tips on efficient cervical MBB placement with the posterior approach. What's your initial approach or landmark to getting the nice needle placement almost parallel to the articular pillar / trapezoid without using up a bunch of fluoro time (pictures appreciated)? I know some people do the lateral approach but I like to keep everything posterior for cervical MBB so it directly translates to RFA as well. For posterior I start slightly lateral & inferior but somehow still need a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retaking good CBSE score for better score
I got a 78 EPC first time I took the exam. I know its competitive, but honestly as this year winds down Im finding myself with a lot of free time, and I know I left some points on the table. Wondering if a retake would be worth it just to try. Wondering if anyone has done something similar, and how it went for them. I'm hoping I can take studying a bit easier this time, just do a 2nd pass of Uworld and do the NBMEs again, might that be enough to hit the 80s? If someone had success doing...
