How long (realistically) can you wait to apply for a fellowship?
Hi all! I am interested in applying for OB/GYN and I am also interested in applying for a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship once I complete residency. When looking at the different scholarships to pay for schools, I am really interested in doing a service scholarship and per the terms of the scholarship, if I were to specialize in MFM, I would not be eligible for the scholarship. In an effort to have the best of both worlds, are we able to wait a few years to apply for a fellowship or is it... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I'm Applying for my NY Medical Licensey. I did receive a 'Written Reprimand' at the end of my PGY1 year.. Do I have to report it?
So I received a 'written reprimand' by my Program director at my 1st residency program where I finished my PGY-1 year. Since then as I am towards the end of my PGY3 year, I had no issues. But there are some questions I need to answer on the FSMB website: were you ever disciplined or placed under investigation? were any negative reports for behavioral reasons? I mean yes I did receive a written reprimand for 'unprofessional behavior,' but I dispute what was said of me. Apparently my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CYMS Tool Availability?
Hi! How long after your first acceptances were you all able to see the CYMS tool on the AMCAS portal? Especially for those who received their first A after Feb 19 (or after whenever the CYMS tool was made available). I just received my first A yesterday (feeling extremely grateful), and I did accept the spot in the school's portal, but I still don't see the CYMS tool (I'm on a couple waitlists as well, so would be great to see those). Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New grad Interview advice
I am in the beginning stage of interviews for my first vet job. One of the places has requested that I put together a presentation on my goals in the first 100 days. Practice is primarily a SA practice with some exotic work. I have never been to the practice and do not know anyone that works there. I am confident in presenting, but as a new grad there is only so much I can do when I don't have any idea of how busy they are or what sort of surgeries besides castrations/ spays. Any ideas of... Failed Research Project Impact on Future
Currently working on an industry funded research project (sample collection from patients with a rare disease) and just had a concerning meeting with my PI. For background, I was put in charge of the project (which was brand new itself ) right out of undergrad with no clinical research experience. There were a lot of growing pains for the first few months and I fully accept I made some mistakes. During this meeting, my PI yelled at me as we are lagging behind the projected enrollment... Are kids normally super angry after procedural sedations
I’ve done so many procedural sedations in my career and don’t remember kids being super angry when they come out of sedation. My own kiddo had a procedure and came out super angry. So is this normal? Do I just miss it since I don’t usually come back to check on patients after the procedure is done? And any tips to make them less angry when they come out of it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Interesting clawback from Humana
Got a "refund request" from our good friends at Humana today. Clawing back two 99204s and one 99214 because "diagnosis code(s) are inappropriate". The only code all three charts have in common is G894 chronic pain syndrome. None of them use it as a primary or even secondary diagnosis, but as a 3rd or 5th diagnosis. Just a heads up don't use that code at all for Humana pts. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Creighton Omaha vs Western Michigan
I have been blessed to be accepted to both of these great schools, which makes the decision difficult. With the April 31st deadline of only holding 1 A coming soon, I need to choose between these two soon. I appreciate any guidance/advice/opinions! Similarities OOS for both: Both are 9+ hours car trip from home. Base Tuition is ~70k for both. No scholarship received. Both locations are very cold… not ideal. I do like outdoor activities, and a medium sized city is nice... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

U of Kansas Med vs MCW-Milwaukee
To give some background: I live in Chicago, but my family is from Wisconsin, and my sister and mom work in Milwaukee. My significant other is from a Kansas City suburb and my college best friend is an M1 at KU Med. I am very fortunate that CoA is not a major factor in my decision making. I am interested in Ophthalmology, General Surgery, or Internal Medicine, and I would love to move out to the West Coast for residency to follow family. **University of Kansas School of Medicine** PROS •...
