Huge upward GPA trend
I have an enormous cGPA trend. After my first 3 years, I transferred and did 5 more years of school (BS Biology & Math, BS Biomedical Engineering, MS Biomedical Engineering). cGPA by year 1.72, 1.77, 1.16... ... ... 2.94, 3.57, 3.94, 3.98, 3.97 My cGPA over my entire academic career is a 3.06 (sGPA is comparable). However, looking at just my last 4 years, I have a cGPA of 3.73 over 226 credits. Given that in my last 4 years I've taken almost twice as many credits as is... Hip # ga vs spinal
SPINAL OR GENERAL ANESTHESIA FOR HIP FRACTURE - NYSORA I invite all of my anesthesiology colleagues, particularly those with expertise in regional anesthesia, to act now to atone the conclusion of the studies on Spinal versus General Anesthesia for Patients with Hip Fracture that is, potentially, harmful, both to our patients and to our profession... www.nysora.com Maybe already posted but I didn't see it. Selective service and residency
Hello guys, I recently matched into residency with an affiliated VA program. While doing the onboarding, I saw that you are required to be registered with selective service system. However I have not ever registered with Sss as I grew up outside of the US since i was 14 years old. This is actually the first time I have heard about this. Am I screwed? What are my options now? If anybody has any experience regarding this, I would love to hear from you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Withdrawal Effect on Residency Apps
I withdrew from some courses early on to take an LOA, and I am wondering if this could affect residency apps negatively, and if so, how severely if I want to match Psych or PM&R as a DO. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SAT restarted in Ivy League schools, is MCAT becoming more important? Could Step1 score come back?
Harvard announces return to required testing — Harvard Gazette Leading researchers cite strong evidence that testing expands opportunity. news.harvard.edu Harvard is the latest Ivy to require SAT for undergraduate admissions, after data showed SAT scores correlate well with student performance in college. Could MCAT, which has also a demonstrated correlation to board exams, regain some of its lusters? Could STEP 1 again become scored rather than P/F? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PLAS Exam/clinical competency assessment
Anyone have experience with (either as a physician being assessed or as the one assessing a peer) PLAS/clinical skills competency assessment conducted by CPEP or an equivalent organization? -Do most physicians ‘pass’ with no issues? -is it then forever reportable even if the report determines physician is competent? This is brought about by a medical board requesting it before licensure approval due to a less than favorable report from a physician’s former workplace upon work verification... Follow up questions to LOR writers
I applied for PT school previously and was told by my letter writer they had follow up questions (like 1-10 ratings) from schools in addition to writing the letter. I was wondering if anyone knew if DO, or MD even, did this at all as well or heard of it. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UAMS vs. FIU HWCOM
I was lucky enough to get into both of these schools! I was wondering if I could get some help on deciding which of these schools is better! Rheum - seeing consults in private practice
IM PGY-1 here, just did a rheum rotation and I really enjoyed it, am now strongly considering rheum. We'd typically spend half the day in clinic and the other half of the day seeing consults. I liked this balance of inpatient and outpatient and I do enjoy seeing consults, even the silly ones. My understanding is that most private practice rheumatologists spend all or almost all of their time in clinic. I wanted to know if there are private practice jobs out there in which seeing consults is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
