Did any docs take the QBI deduction on their taxes?
And I'm referring to taking the QBI for being a doctor, not for other businesses they might have. This applies to 1099 docs, and those with an S-Corp or an LLC for just being an ER doctor. I qualified for it in the past several years, it was a nice tax break. But this year I didn't, and I'm not sure why. My wife and I have W2 and 1099 income (my wife is not a doctor and she gets a W2, and I get a W2 and 1099 from the hospitals I work at), and my 1099 business after expenses was about... Feinberg vs Vanderbilt
Hey guys! Any insight on choosing between Vandy and NW would be so appreciated. Vanderbilt Pros 1 year pre-clinical (lots of time to explore specialties) P/F clerkships in M2 (no ranking) 3rd and 4th years give plenty of time and explore/research (would likely not need to take a research year) Small class size Enjoyed my second look and met a lot of people I get along with (lots of us have taken gap years Cons Nashville Not super diverse--... PI LoR will be late
Hi again everyone, So I've been prepping my application materials to hopefully submit everything Day 1, but i just heard from my PI that her LoR won't be finished until late June or early July. I am fairly confident that I need this letter, and I don't have a substitute. I believe this leaves me with two options, which I will leave below. Please let me know which option you think would be best, or let me know if I missed a third option. 1. I submit my primary Day 1 to a single, throw away... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SBRT dose constraints & TG101
There has not been an update to SBRT dose constraints in years. It is well understood by experts that some dose constraints (e.g. spinal cord) are well validated and should be respected while others (e.g. great vessels) are essentially made-up and are routinely violated for target coverage. Personally, I completely ignore the intermediate SBRT dose constraints as they make absolutely no sense to me. From talking to colleagues, it seems like constraint violation is directly proportional... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC at Icahn FIexmed
Hey guys, I am a current freshman in college and I recently found out about the Flexmed program and I thought that it would be the perfect opportunity for me. I have a large interest in computer science as well as music, and going to a university that is close to my hometown has allowed me to continue a lot of what I built for my community and myself in college. I wanted to get opinions on if I have a good shot at the program! Any activity I am currently still involved in will have a * next... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Binghamton or Buffalo School of Pharmacy
Hi everyone, I'm in the process of choosing between attending Binghamton University and the University at Buffalo. I've been offered a small scholarship of $3,000 per year to attend Binghamton, but no financial aid for Buffalo. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of each option, considering factors like academic programs, campus life, and overall costs. Could anyone share their experiences or insights about these schools, especially if you've faced a similar choice? Any advice on how to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rowan vs WVSOM vs NYITCOM
I am on the HPWL for Rowan, and WL's for NYITCOM and a state MD school, but would like to establish a preference in case I get off of those WL's. I am OOS for all of the DO schools. WVSOM Pros: Great faculty support & students seem happy Beautiful area Good match list cheapest tuition $54,000 (base) (already paid $3,000 deposit which would apply to this) Wilderness medicine seems cool Exams emulate boards Golden weekends Cons: Research not super accessible - I would be interested in... High School Grant Question
pls don’t quote During my time in high school, I was the leader of a club that provides community service. I applied for and was awarded a major international grant to fund a service project in my community. After winning this grant, we were able to keep doing the project every year and now it is an annual event. Would this be okay to add to my application? I know the rule of thumb is to not add anything from high school if you didn’t continue for a substantial amount of time in college. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
