UCSD vs Case
Western Hi everyone! I’ve been torn for a while, but to be honest, I think I’m leaning towards UCSD. Attended second look for both schools. I am from Akron (45 min from Case) but attend undergrad in NC (8 hr drive from home) and am honestly only home ~3 times a year for breaks, but do a good job staying in touch with my mom. I’ve spent summers in NC and Boston and studied abroad in London, so living independently/moving/establishing and managing on my own isn’t a huge concern... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

BPD and ADHD comorbidity
There is a subset of BPD patients that I see that checks all the boxes for ADHD criteria. Now, I know these are treacherous waters, so I always try to check and double-check these cases: can the impulsivity be associated with emotional triggers and chronic feelings of emptiness, or it has a strong motor and learning component as well? Did these symptoms began before 12y.o? Do other family members give similar informations as well? Do the patients report significant sympotms from standarized... Occupational Medicine?
I have recently heard about occupational medicine and considered it may be a good fit for me at this time. However, I know relatively little about how to get into that field. I'm wondering as to which residency and/or fellowship I would need to have to get into the field. FM? IM? A specific one for occupational med? I have never heard of someone matching Occupational Med so that's where my confusion stems from. If someone here would be able to enlighten me on this, it would be much... Question about Dental School PS for Reapplicants
I'm in the process of rewriting my PS for this upcoming cycle and I was wondering if I should mention I'm a reapplicant. I've been debating on leaving it out because I'm reaching the character limit and there are other things I want to cover, but at the same time I've been hearing mixed opinions about whether I should include it which has me confused. Also, would it be wise to omit any details regarding my struggles with anxiety and how I'm working to overcome them? I wrote about this in my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is toronto dental anesthesia program worthwhile to apply? Are these rumours true?
Hey, so I'm a third-year dental student here in Canada, and I'm really into the idea of specializing in dental anesthesia. Based on my understanding toronto is the only school in Canada that offers this. I've been hearing some stuff about the program that's making me second-guess whether I should apply or not. I heard that students are always delayed graduation. One person who was supposed to graduate in 2023 but hasn't yet, and nobody seems to know why. There are no students in the class of... SDN Article: The Slippery Concept of “Professionalism” in Residency is a Problem
The Student Doctor Network publishes articles weekly. Check out this article or other articles about residency and the Match at Student Doctor Network. Residents and fellows in ACGME-accredited training programs know well that “Professionalism” is one of the six core competencies they are to develop during their training. As I have expressed in the past, though, professionalism is a catch-all competency frequently cited as a basis for remediation and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Course Repeats > 2x
How to do Canadian Med Schools treat more than 2x repeats of a course? I have one I repeated 4x and failed, not due to lack of of ability but more like extenuating circumstances due to which I couldn't take the exam and those excuses not being considered/accepted. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
