The Role of the Fascia-Only Anterolateral Thigh Flap in Extremity Reconstruction: The Fascia-Only Anterolateral Thigh Flap
CONCLUSIONS: The fALT-free flap can be successfully used in extremity reconstruction. The ALT fascia has robust perfusion that allows for the harvest of a large flap that can be surfaced with a split thickness skin graft. Its thin pliable tissue provides excellent contour for the hand, distal leg, and foot that does not require future thinning, optimizing the cosmetic and functional result.PMID:38527348 | DOI:10.1097/SAP.0000000000003878 (Source: Hand Surgery)

Using an under-utilised rural hospital to reduce surgical waiting lists
ConclusionsThere is merit in drawing on underutilised resources in small rural hospitals in support of initiatives to reduce surgical waitlists. Appropriate outpatient surgeries can be safely performed with high levels of patient satisfaction.PMID:38522435 | DOI:10.1071/AH23191 (Source: Australian Health Review)

Severe Liver Dysfunction after Donor Lymphocyte Infusion for Relapsed Multiple Myeloma
Korean J Gastroenterol. 2024 Mar 25;83(3):123-126. doi: 10.4166/kjg.2024.007.ABSTRACTDonor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) is performed to augment an anti-tumor immune response or ensure donor stem cells remain engrafted following allogeneic stem cell transplantation but may induce graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) involving skin, intestine, and liver. Although hepatic involvement of GVHD can manifest as mild to severe hepatitis, few reports have mentioned acute severe liver dysfunction with encephalopathy. We experienced a case of acute severe liver dysfunction with semicoma after DLI in a patient with relapsed multiple myeloma ...
