TMDSAS GPA calculation
Do Texas Medical Schools calculate their own gpa, or do they just go off of the GPA calculated by TMDSAS (No A-s or B+)? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When to start considering alternate gap year jobs? Reapplicant advising?
Hi- I have applied this cycle with 4R's and 1 WL so far...I applied to 33 schools and submitted secondaries early, but just preparing for a reapp since I am a non-trad with a LM 69 (3.5x GPA, 3.3 sGPA, 514 MCAT) and an IA on my app. Have done a post-bacc (will be done with the post-bacc in December, but grades have already been submitted to all schools for this cycle so the extra classes won't significantly impact my GPA) and working in healthcare consulting for ~1 year. The main thing I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retaking a 515 MCAT (serious)? International Applicant.
Hi everyone! Just a pre-face: I know that a 515 (90%ile) is a great score. I know under most circumstances it would be a little silly to re-take. However, I am an international applicant (non-green card holder). From the amazing words of @gyngyn I've seen before on other threads, I purchased an MSAR subscription and created a master excel file of all schools that 1) accept international applicants and 2) admit >= 3 each year. By getting a 515, I've essentially cut the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

"Complete" in late September for DO schools.
For personal reasons, I had to postpone working on my secondaries and ended up submitting them in late September. LM 68, I am a CA resident, with a bunch of DO shadowing and LORs, as well as significant clinical hours over the years. Do I have a chance of getting into COMP, or should I plan to reapply next year? P.S. my values and previous experiences fit perfectly with COMP's mission and I have a particular interest in OMM. Any insight is greatly appreciated. )) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Checking Portals Impact
Are schools receptive to how often you check their portals before or after interviews? Will it help in receiving interviews? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

sending letters of continued interest at non rolling admissions schools
I am lucky to have interviewed at 2 non-rolling admissions schools that are great programs. I won't know until well after the new year if I am admitted. I am wondering, when should I plan on sending letters of intent/update letters of what I have recently accomplished? My understanding is that a decision is probably already made, but since the wait is so long should I do it soon or should I not bother at all? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does this LOR qualify as a science LOR?
Hello, I have a letter from a human nutrition professor that is pretty well written. I am concerned that this may not count as a science letter at some schools. However AACOMAS does list human nutrition as a science course, and it is calculated in your sGPA, which leads me to believe it would count towards the science letter requirements. What do you guys think? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recommended Behavioral Science Courses
If behavioral sciences courses are “recommended” on MSAR, are my admissions chances hurt if I don’t take any? About to graduate, and I don’t want to take more classes if I don’t need to. Some of my classmates think that taking these courses will “look good” to schools, but I wanted to hear all of your opinions. Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Automatic/Screening/Holistic Secondaries?
Hey guys! I found this in my camera roll from a few years ago. It has schools separated by how they send out secondaries, but I wonder if there are any changes since it has been a few years. I was just wondering if anyone had any input or ideas (Source: Student Doctor Network)

High stat applicant with 2 IIs... can I count on more interviews?
So worried because the traditional advice here is that interviews are offered to high stat applicants first. but i am high stats (3.95+, 523). I only have 2 IIs from AMCAS schools. One is to a T10 and the other to a T50. I was so hopeful to be in the first wave of interviews at those two schools... but since then, it has been silence for over a month. Fortunately, I do have IIs to a bunch of TMDSAS schools, but I was hoping to get a little more love from AMCAS. (side note - why so much love... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
