Standard mid-cycle silence panic post
lol not to add to this string of similar posts, but I've somehow made it thus far with 3 MD IIs (which I'm very excited about / think the interviews went okay!) but also have not heard from,,,, the other 23 MD schools I applied to. No rejections no updates, just silence. am I sunk at those schools? I know most IIs have probably been sent, but is it possible that it's just an odd stroke of randomness/unluckiness that I haven't heard anything from anyone? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Interview Bubble Burst
Title I found out that my top choice, and only MD II, that's scheduled for January is almost certainly an II for their waitlist. I have 2 II from DO schools, but for one reason or the other (and unrelated to them being DO) I don't particularly love the idea of going to them (one is muchhhh more rural than I thought and the other has pretty expensive COL and tuition). I'm from NY, so there obviously isn't a shortage of state schools and it honestly just feels incredibly demoralizing that...

What does admissions like to see?
I currently work as a patient coordinator at a dental office. I have the opportunity to do research in the upcoming semester, but it means I would have to work way less. Which should I choose? When all is said and done, will dental schools care if I was involved research, or is it better that I would be in a real dental setting? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Morale at an all-time low (no IIs)
Reapplicant, 3.69 GPA, 519 MCAT, T5 undergrad. Applied to 21 schools and haven't heard back for IIs, except I submitted late in Sept-Oct. (I will probably get flamed for applying so late - was unsure and burnt out from my last app).
Last cycle I applied to 10 schools, 2 II from T20 schools -> 2 WLs. Was thinking of reapplying if I didn't get in the first time, and here I am.
Maybe my app this time just focused too much on community health and not enough research even though I've had pubs...

Networking Question
Hi all. I am URM (AA female, low income, immigrant, fgen, pell grant recipient) and will be applying during the 2024-2025 cycle. I see a lot of comments on here about needing to network with different communities at med schools before applying and I was wondering how do I find these communities/do you have any recommendations? I am a CA resident. I’m the first in my family to pursue higher education so any advice would be really helpful. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

8/9 DO II with 3 A and 2 WL but still no II from MD??
Hello,
I have been very fortunate enough to have received 8 out 9 II from DO schools I applied for and have 3 current A and a few waitlists and future interviews but I’m also stressed that I have heard nothing back from the 20 MD schools I applied to besides 3 rejections any advice? Colorado DPT 2023-2024
Hi! I haven’t seen a Colorado thread started for this upcoming 2023-2024 application cycle for Colorado DPT schools. I applied to University of Colorado-Anschutz in August and haven’t heard back yet! Has anyone else have any updates? Feel free to share any schools! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Step 2 average score by residency program
Hello,
Is there any place where one can view the average Step 2 scores for successful applicants to a given residency program? Basically, like MSAR for med schools with MCAT.
I can find what the average scores are for a specialty in general, but beyond comparing specialties, it'd be nice to know how that looks at a more fine-grained level, between programs within a given specialty.
Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am an ORM (Chinese American) Florida resident planning to apply to all Florida MD/DO schools. My clinical volunteering is on the weak side, and I was wondering if I should take two gap years (current senior)? cGPA: 3.78
sGPA: 3.68
MCAT Score: 521

WAMC at a T20 current cycle (23-24)
I'm applying this cycle and have been doing great so far. However, I noticed that I haven't really received any II from schools above T50, and wanted to get an idea of whether I should expect any or if I should shut my mouth and be happy with what I have.
cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: 3.9+ for both
MCAT score(s) and breakdown: 516 (131/126/127/132)
State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): NY...

126 C/P: retake?
My overall score is a 515, which I likely wouldn't retake on its own, but 126 for C/P is at or below the 10th percentile for most of the schools that I was interested in, according to MSAR.
I'm an ORM, Texas resident, 3.9X GPA, traditional applicant - planning to apply MD-only and mostly to in-state schools. My MCAT practice exam averages were closer to a 518 (516-521 range) and 126 on C/P was my lowest section score of all time. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
