Testusterol, a new sterol of the sponge species < em > Xestospongia testudinaria < /em > from Phu Quoc island, Vietnam
Nat Prod Res. 2024 Apr 11:1-9. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2024.2340757. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA new sterol, named testusterol (1), and five known compounds (2-6) were isolated from the n-hexane and dichloromethane extracts of the sponge species Xestospongia testudinaria. Their chemical structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analyses (1D, 2D NMR, ESIMS and HRESIMS) and comparison with published data. The results of in vitro test (utilizing brine shrimp Artemia salina LEACH) showed that three extracts ethanol, dichloromethane, and ethanol/water, significantly inhibited Artemia salina with LC50 values ...

Identification and biological characteristics of < em > Enterococcus casseliflavus < /em > TN-47 isolated from < em > Monochamus alternatus < /em >
This study aimed to investigate the in vitro antimicrobial and biological characteristics of Enterococcus casseliflavus TN-47 (PP411196), isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of M. alternatus in Jilin Province, PR China. Among 13 isolates obtained from the insects, five were preliminarily screened for antimicrobial activity. E. casseliflavus TN-47, which exhibited the strongest antimicrobial activity, was identified. E. casseliflavus TN-47 possessed antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus USA300 and Salmonella enterica serovar Pullorum ATCC 19945. Furthermore, E. casseliflavus TN-47 was sensitive to tetrac...

GSE263108 Hysteresis of IL-10R primes solid tumour microenvironment for bacterial immunotherapy
Contributors : Yan Wang ; Yichuan Xiao ; Chenli Liu ; Zhiguang ChangSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Mus musculusHysteresis, a ubiquitous phenomenon in nonlinear systems, plays a vital role in diverse scientific disciplines. Here, we demonstrated the presence of hysteresis in the expression of interleukin-10 receptor (IL-10R) within the tumour microenvironment (TME) during bacterial immunotherapy. The engineered Salmonella enterica, administered intravenously, exhibited remarkable efficacy in multiple tumour types, effectively eliminating tumours and preventing recurrence and m...

Recent development of oral vaccines (Review)
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Mar 22;27(5):223. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12511. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTOral immunization can elicit an effective immune response and immune tolerance to specific antigens. When compared with the traditional injection route, delivering antigens via the gastrointestinal mucosa offers superior immune effects and compliance, as well as simplicity and convenience, making it a more optimal route for immunization. At present, various oral vaccine delivery systems exist. Certain modified bacteria, such as Salmonella, Escherichia coli and particularly Lactobacillus, are considered promising carriers for oral...

Dendritic cell targeting peptide plus Salmonella FliCd flagellin fused outer membrane protein H (OmpH) demonstrated increased efficacy against infections caused by different Pasteurella multocida serogroups in mouse models
In this study, we modified OmpH with dendritic cell targeting peptide (Depeps) and/or Salmonella FliCd flagellin, and expressed three types of recombinant proteins with the MBP tag (rDepeps-FliC-OmpH-MBP, rDepeps-OmpH-MBP, rFliC-OmpH-MBP). Assessments in mouse models revealed that vaccination with rDepeps-FliC-OmpH-MBP, rDepeps-OmpH-MBP, or rFliC-OmpH-MBP induced significant higher level of antibodies as well as IFN-γ and IL-4 in murine sera than vaccination with rOmpH-MBP (P < 0.5). Vaccination with the three modified proteins also provided increased protection (rDepeps-FliC-OmpH-MBP, 70 %; rDepeps-OmpH-MBP, 50 %; rFl...
