An updated systemic review and meta-analysis on human papillomavirus in breast carcinogenesis
CONCLUSION: Current study provides a global estimate of HPV prevalence in BC patients and demonstrates a significant association between this virus and BC etiology. Nevertheless, we recommend further investigation into the underlying mechanism is essential to validate this hypothesis.PMID:37711194 | PMC:PMC10498127 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2023.1219161

Hedyotis Diffusa-Scutellaria Barbata inhibits Breast Cancer Ethyl Acetate Fraction from Hedyotis Diffusa Plus Scutellaria Barbata inhibits the Progression of Breast Cancer via Targeting LMO1 and AKT/Mtor Signaling Pathway
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the SH herb pair inhibited the proliferation and metastasis through downregulating LMO1 expression and reducing the activation of the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. LMO1 has the potential as a new target in the treatment of breast cancer.PMID:37711008 | DOI:10.2174/1386207326666230913105858

Correlation of an immune-related 8-gene panel with pathologic response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with primary breast cancers
In conclusion, we have identified eight immune-related genes that are associated with a favorable prognosis and positive responses to drugs. This 8-gene signature could potentially provide prognostic insights for breast cancer patients undergoing NACT.PMID:37713974 | DOI:10.1016/j.tranon.2023.101782

The value of radiomics model based on ultrasound image features in the differentiation between minimal breast cancer and small benign breast masses
CONCLUSION: The radiomics model based on ultrasound image features has a satisfied predictive ability for small breast masses, and is expected to become a potential tool for the diagnosis of MBC, and it is a zero cost (in terms of patient participation and imaging time).PMID:37712556 | DOI:10.1002/jcu.23556

Antibody-drug conjugates in breast cancer: overcoming resistance and boosting immune response
J Clin Invest. 2023 Sep 15;133(18):e172156. doi: 10.1172/JCI172156.ABSTRACTAntibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have emerged as a revolutionary therapeutic class, combining the precise targeting ability of monoclonal antibodies with the potent cytotoxic effects of chemotherapeutics. Notably, ADCs have rapidly advanced in the field of breast cancer treatment. This innovative approach holds promise for strengthening the immune system through antibody-mediated cellular toxicity, tumor-specific immunity, and adaptive immune responses. However, the development of upfront and acquired resistance poses substantial challenges in maximi...

Ultrasensitive determination of surface proteins on tumor-derived small extracellular vesicles for breast cancer identification based on lanthanide-activated signal amplification strategy
Talanta. 2023 Sep 9;267:125189. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2023.125189. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSmall extracellular vesicles (sEVs) carrying multiple tumor-associated proteins inherited from parental cells play crucial roles in noninvasive breast cancer (BC) diagnosis. However, it is challenging to assess the subtle variations of surface proteins on sEV membranes due to the highly heterogeneous BC. Therefore, a simple and ultrasensitive assay based on lanthanide (Ln3+)-activated luminescence signal amplification was developed to detect multiple surface proteins on BC-derived sEVs. Multiple protein biomarkers on sEVs can ...

FSE-Net: feature selection and enhancement network for mammogram classification
Phys Med Biol. 2023 Sep 15;68(19). doi: 10.1088/1361-6560/acf559.ABSTRACTObjective. Early detection and diagnosis allow for intervention and treatment at an early stage of breast cancer. Despite recent advances in computer aided diagnosis systems based on convolutional neural networks for breast cancer diagnosis, improving the classification performance of mammograms remains a challenge due to the various sizes of breast lesions and difficult extraction of small lesion features. To obtain more accurate classification results, many studies choose to directly classify region of interest (ROI) annotations, but labeling ROIs i...

Addressing Inequalities in Breast Cancer Care Delivery
Surg Oncol Clin N Am. 2023 Oct;32(4):799-810. doi: 10.1016/j.soc.2023.05.009. Epub 2023 Jun 16.ABSTRACTBreast cancer treatment, timeliness of care, and clinical outcomes are inferior for patients of Black race and Hispanic ethnicity, and the origin of these inequities is multifactorial. Owing to aggregate reporting of data in the United States for patients of Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander ancestry, disparities within and across these groups are difficult to appreciate. In large part due to low prevalence, male breast cancer remains understudied, and treatment algorithms are primarily extrapolated from resear...

Current treatment landscape of HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer in the Nordics: a modified Delphi study
DISCUSSION: ET in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor is the preferred frontline treatment for HR+/HER2- aBC in the Nordics. The observed discrepancy between current guidelines and clinical practice could be due to differences in the reimbursement of novel treatments in the Nordics. Collaborative research efforts are warranted for topics that lack consensus.PMID:37713138 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2254475
